Dear Ma passed away early Sunday morning. She was peaceful.. I was with her until around an hour before she passed. I sat up until 12:30 AM with my cousin (who lived with us for a while as a kid) and we talked memories and had some good laughs and mom was the center of most of it. They say that hearing is the last thing to go, so we included her in the conversation. She was a lovely person, her body just gave up.

I went to her house with my nephew and his partner. Moms fancy victorian music box started playing without being touched... we all felt it was mom coming through with something beautiful for us. Just like her.

I went kayaking with a good friend of mine in the evening, really needed to get out in the open after weeks in the care home and hospital. It rained which was very refreshing after all the heat. Saw juvenile river otters playing, that was so cool!

Went back to school today. So far so good... I am triggering a lot of crying in some of the students... but its good to be here today.

Sheryl has just made another post about a family member passing away last night plus she has the issue of her sister's partner terminal illness, I think she needs some support too.

Sheryl, I am sorry you too are going through rough times. I think you know how to take care of yourself, so please be good to yourself. Maybe you need a nice massage? I'm glad  you know we're here for you, and you know it's safe to grieve here, in what ever way you need to.

I too am so sorry to hear of such heavy losses that so many here are experiencing. Taking good care of ourselves is so important, Denise has wise words. I learn so much about self care from all of you, especially during times like these - so many times it feels like it is a skill I never learned how to do - at least authentically, for me. Medicating with food and hiding seemed to ease huge pain.

/comfort to us all. I am very afraid for when my mom leaves this world - I know it will turn me inside out forever.

Thanks for the kind words Kim - I think I am finally starting to recover from the madness of this last years work teaching.

well, they have decided that I can be "allowed" to work, so it looks like I really am going to be here in KS for another 5 weeks :( It is nearly 100 degrees and at least 50% humidity, and the commute it about 45 minutes one way :(

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
