Any husband and wife sleevers?

Recommended Posts

For those couples who haven't yet had surgery' date=' a small tip from me. Do whatever you can to get on the same meds schedule while in the hospital. We are getting meds for nausea, pain and inflammation, plus we're getting iV bags switched. The meds seem to one every four hours--unfortunately I go first and then 2 hours later its time for my husbands meds. What this means is that we are getting no more than 2 hours of uninterrupted sleep at night. Ugh.

I was out of surgery an hour before him, but if he feels nauseous before you do, ask for your first dose when he does. You can thank me later :)[/quote']

Great advice! Everyone knows that the hospital is probably the worst place to be for real rest. And if you and your spouse are on different schedules, might as well forget about it altogether! lol

How are you guys doing?

We're doing great now. The first night was rough, but now we both feel overall very good. We were discharged from the hospital this morning. Our swallow tests came out fine and we finally got our first taste of broth in 72 hours! It was heavenly.

Glad to hear all the success everyone has had doing this together. Me & husband just had our psych eval & cardiologist appts. We just want to wrap up all these loose ends ASAP.

Hi all, my wife and I are also getting sleeved together. My wife is scheduled for 8/13 and I am scheduled for 9/10. We're really looking forward to our new journey. We already have a great marriage and I know this will bring us even closer. Good luck everyone! And to those of you who have already been sleeved...keep up the good work!

First baby speed bump in our post op journey. Steve is in ER now with dehydration and low bp. 76/43. Eek. ( He kept feeling like He was going to pass out). They are giving him IV fluids, of course stopping his bp med and checking his blood values. He's already starting to feel a little better with 1/2 bag of the IV fluids and bp is now 104/63 so moving in the right direction. On a positive note - he no longer has high blood pressure! Prayers appreciated everyone. :)

Down 85 lbs in 7-8 months! That's fantastic. We're 12 days post-op and he is down 26 lbs and I'm down 21 so we're pretty happy so far.

Congrats to all of the couple who have or will be sleeved. I wish you all well on your respective journeys. You all are an inspiration to all overweight couples. The fact that both in the relationship are going through it together should help with managing your respective diets and any mood swings.

I was sleeved in February and I am down 95lbs. However, I have an inter-weight marriage and she has never had a weight problem. My wife has been my biggest supporter since she has been around through my various weight stages.

Again I say, good luck to you all.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
