My "thinspiration" is khloe kardashian because she probably weighs my goal weight but that's not gonna happen with my curves gone lol

I think this is a really hard part about losing weight... Body image. The other day I had a few minutes of feeling almost sexy because of my weight loss followed by sadness because I was unhappy with my body STILL!

The fact of the matter my body is still my body. It's not going to change into someone else's body when I lose weight.

I think it's not ever a good idea to try to mold yourself after a "celebrity" especially one that has every shot on tv and film carefully edited so what we see is not always reality..

Exactly. We have to learn to love the body we have, do what we can to make it the best it can be, but we need to accept what we can't change.

You've been sleeved for all of a month? I've said it before and I'll say it again...you need to have patience as your body changes.

Give yourself a chance to heal and see where you end up. Keep going to the gym, your energy will come back. I am a week ahead of you and my hour swim each day was a lot easier this week than it was last. I am even looking forward to my martial arts class tonight instead of dreading it.

There are compression clothes and push up bras that can help you feel better about how your clothes fit as your body shifts. (And let me tell you this, I've no idea if you plan on having kids one day, but they will fook up our body way more than WLS will!). There are thrift shops and consignment stores where you can buy outfits for dollars. You had to be mentally prepared for the need for new clothes post op as I know you did your homework.

If you are unhappy when you get to a healthy weight, you have options. Plastics exist for a reason. If you really WANT to be fat, weight can be regained. You had a friend who suffered a heart attack at an early age? You don't want that to be you.

Now for some tough love.... For someone who is always talking about having such high self esteem, you spend a lot of time dwelling on negativity. I never know when opening your threads if they are going to who I believe you to really be, or completely negative nelly.

As far as "not being able to live"? Dramatic much? Go spend some time volunteering at a children's hospital and then tell me how you feel about your healthy body no matter what it looks like vs. a child who has no future because of disease, a horrible accident or a birth defect. Look into their bright, smiling, hopeful faces and tell me how bad off you really are.

LouiseC, I sincerely hope that Janice can take heed to the words of your post. If not, I would like for you to know that it has been a source of inspiration to me!

Embrace the fact that you've had this surgery, and make the most of it. You can buy new boobs (start saving now!), and can get a great butt from hiking up mountains, doing squats, or other toning exercises.

I just looked through your gallery to check out these amazing curves presurgery...and the biggest curve was still your mid section... just like mine..ha! Those "curves" weren't hiding your weight...sorry.

The first month sucks...everyone knows it. It will get better, and you will be able to exercise easier with some weight off of you. Don't stay in this funk. What's done is done, now make the most of it and start walking down the road of health AND hotness (even if it's just hotness when clothed).

.

My mid section was at least 15 inches smaller than my boobs and butt. I mustve posted bad pics. Didn't say they were hiding anything nor was I trying to. Nor did I say I had amazing curves but I had some

30 pounds in 5 weeks is great! So, you haven't lost anything in 2 weeks .....girl I've gone over a month with no weight loss! It's part of the process. I go to the thrift store and buy jeans sometimes with the tags still on them for 10 bucks and shirts for 4. You're only a month out, give it time.

You can't change your body shape through weight loss or weight gain and pics don't lie. You appear to have great legs (jealous!) and carry more weight in your middle. I'm not seeing a big booty or a big chest and you look like you will slim down beautifully.

I consider this kind of like getting my hair cut. It looks awkward at first, it grows out kind of funky until I get used to it, and then it will all fall into place.

From recalling your pre surgery views it seems to me you were determined to regret this surgery before you even had it and I can not work out why you proceeded with it to be honest.

Thing is' date=' you have done it now. There is little point in regret as it is not like you can go back and undo it. You made a choice and now you have to learn to work with the consequences of that choice. Only you can do that and it will involve changing the way you feel about it. Your feelings are your within your power to choose and you can. choose to feel differently about it all.

You don't have to be on these boards for more than a week before hearing all about stalls, especially at 3 weeks. You know this stuff already. What is it you are seeking to achieve by writing this OP? Is it attention you are after? Validation?

I know I seem harsh and I know I am blunt. I don't often notice posters, I more read the content than check to see who is saying it, so recurrent posters don't often stand out for me. But you have and I have to say it isn't in a positive way. I am noticing recurrent posts of negativity and really all of that is going to lead to self sabotage of your sleeve and, basically, a miserable life. Why choose to be miserable when you can choose to be happy?

Of course your clothes don't fit right, you just had bariatric surgery.

Of course your body shape is changing rapidly, you just had bariatric surgery.

Of course you can't eat what you want, you just had bariatric surgery.

Of course exercise feels hard right now, you just had bariatric surgery.

So you look dishevelled? Do something about it. Do your hair, give yourself a mani/pedi and a facial if you can't afford to get one done professionally. Choose not to look dishevelled.

Clothes hang loose? Use a belt, use a scarf, use a needle and cotton, use your head and use google for ideas on how to turn what you have into something that looks good and feels comfortable for little to no cost.

Choices. You have them. And make them knowing that you have to live with the consequences of the choices you make. Just like you now have to live with the consequences of making the choice to have bariatric surgery. You have to live with your decision, Janice, so you may as well chose to live happily.

I never regretted it pre surgery. I knew I needed it to be healthy. I mentally tried to prepare myself for not liking my body beforehand and everyone convinced me before hand that health is more important than looks. Now it is becoming real. I'm not seeking attention I am hoping to get inspiration and enthusiasm which I have gotten in the past. Pre ssurgery people on this forum convinced me that I was making the right choice so I was hoping I could have some support...thank you to those who have

Oh and LouiseC said I think it was her...

A belt! I wild and wacky concept to us far people, but they do work wonders in the in between stages.

No I already had my date before I came on this site then I started looking at before and after pics and began being discouraged because I liked the before pics better

I am shaking my head here, I always wondered why some insurance companies required psych evaluations prior to surgery and now I understand.

Janice, I am sorry you are emotionally suffering with this. I recommend that you seek some help, as in therapeutic help, and that this help be off line and professional. What you are seeking is not something you will find from a bunch of strangers on a random Internet forum. You will find it within yourself, and I would say you are going to need some help in doing so.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
