Recommended Posts

I'm 14 days post surgery and have lost 22 lbs since I started the whole process, (2 week liquid diet before surgery) Is this normal? Only 22lbs?

:( so discouraged!!

It depends. How much did you weigh at start, how much do you lose to get to goal? Someone with 200# to lose, like likely lose faster than someone with 55# to lose. 22# in 4 weeks is 4.5# a week. Sounds pretty darned good! Keep it up!!

Everyone is different. 22lbs in 14 days is awesome! Thats more than a pound a day. Don't be upset with that. You have to realize you body just went through alot 2 weeks ago and has a ways to go before its fully healed. Once it heals and you can eat more Protein and be able to work out you will noticed more changes. Just because you are not losing weight on the scale doesn't mean you're not doing good. I was one a 3 week stall in that time I didn't lose any weight but dropped a pants size.

Hang in there your journey just started you have a bright road a head if you wish to stay on it and do what your doctor tells you to do.

Please don't be discouraged. I am five weeks out and have lost 23lbs over that time and I am really pleased!

If you are feeling like this, what were your expectations? The speed you lose at depends on how much you have to lose but it is early days. Keep the liquids and Proteins going. Are you losing inches/changing body shape cos thats what has happened to me, i am down 3 sizes already.

Don't give up at this stage - just look at it as 22lbs that u won't see again :-)

Best of luck, you are not alone xx

Try not to be discouraged.

I don't know what your stats are. Starting weight, etc...?

I go this afternoon for my 2 wk appt and am guessing I'll be about the same loss as you.

my surgery was 5/13, I was 269.5 day of surgery than first week dropped 14 lbs, and since then? nothing...I actually went up a couple of days and then back down to here but I'm not discouraged, I figure my body is trying to figure out what the heck I did to it. I did take my measurements at the start of this journey and I took them again yesterday and am down 10" overall so I know it is moving but I can't see it, I also put my scale in the top of the closet yesterday, I was weighing everyday and that can make you nuts! I'm going to weigh once a week and if I'm still freaking out I may change that to once a month!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
