I'd be surprised if the Slim Fast is the answer......

I read Ali's book today. That's a nice overview for people who don't get it about morbid obesity....hope some uninformed folks will read it. And a real text book case of the band working the way Inamed says it does! I want to read a book by someone who struggled more, I guess.

I have two struggles at the moment...one is that I'm getting so little exercise due to my back. The other is that I'm bored with food...except the stuff that's bad for me. I think I'm mostly bored with eating correctly, and wanting to hurry.... I'll get past it. Just an old behavior cropping up to test the waters.....

Thanks for the info on Potassium. Good information. The wedding pics are beautiful. Can't wait to see more. I love the dome, dome, on the range. It will be interesting to see this in person. The group pic was a little dark, but we did have fun. I use a wireless mouse and keyboard with my laptop. I like that better than struggling with the mouse indicator on the laptop.

Thanks Heather for posting the pic. Hope all of you are enjoying the cruise.

My first blood test from last Thursday and they came back with everything looking great all but my potassium and it was 6.2 the range is 3.5-5.3. I had to drink a bottle of Sod Polysty Sulf.

On Tuesday back to dr for a second blood test. They called me today and said my potassium was down but only by .2 it is still at 6 so back to Wal-green for two my bottles of meds. I had to drink one and than drink another one tomorrow and than on Friday back to dr for yet another blood test. And I guesss we will go from there.

I have heard that you should have between 3100 & 3300 mg of potassium a day. So I do not think one slimfast a day which has 600mg is going to hurt anyone.

I do feel a little better but not like I should.

Soon I would think they need to find the root cause of the high potassium. It's certainly not the slim fast. I would mention to the doctor though. From the link sent it could mean an auto immune issue. Betsy and I know all too well what that can do to your system.

Off to Vegas. Dressed and heading for the airport. Have a great weekend everyone!

Soooo...I went to Tai Chi at the May Center last night. I was the only one there. The couple that teach it are wonderful! They said class is winding down for the summer(no kidding), and they are going to start a beginners class beginning JULY 5 at 7. I think that's the way to go. Start fresh! I think they will be superb teachers..... No need to sign up. Just show up.

No I haven't Betsy. I'm not sure if I can commit with this crazy house building. Do you know when it will take place? I'm so out of the loop. I had a fill today. I'm now 2.6 and on soft food for 48 hrs. I hope I start losing again. How are you doing? I really thought we'd be moving, but the brick layer and the shutter guys and the painters...oh my. It just won't end.

I know you ladies are getting tired of hearing about my bad news. But I am going to tell you anyway.

I go tomorrow for my 4th blood test. Yes I said 4th. They are trying to bring down my potassium. First blood test it was at 6.2 than I had to drink bad meds and second blood test and than it was 6. More meds and third blood test and now it is at 5.8. They said we will have to do this until it is down to at least 5.3. They are still trying to figure out what has caused it to be so high. But getting it down is the main thing right now. After the 4th blood test they will be sending me to another doctor.

And that is not all.

Last Thursday my two babies (dogs) during the rain storm got out and run off. The animal control picked up Lacey the German Shepherd. Duke the Choc Lab was not to be found.

I know to people who are not animal people just do not understand but I cryed for two days. It was real hard at night bc Michael works nights and I felt so along.

Lacey was not being herself we though it was bc she missed her boyfriend Duke. It was not until yesterday Michael saw that she was bleeding. After a trip to vet we were told she had been shot. After fixing her up she is feeling a little better.

I do not know who misses Duke the most me or Lacey.

Tomorrow is a new day.

Sorry to dump this on you all but I do feel better talking to you all.

Oh I am so sorry Suzanne. I'm a little confused which dog is which, but I guess your total was 3? The little itty bitty dog is still at home? How/where did the dog get shot? That is scary. Pets are family.

The potassium count is scary as well. I know its important to get it down, but finding the root cause is just as important. I believe you said this was a new doctor. I think I would be finding a specialist and find out what is going on. What causes the levels to go so high.

Hang in there. Here's hoping things get better for you.

I am so sorry about your dogs. It's like having family missing and shot. Glad you were able to spot the wound!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
