Did you wake up actually feeling like, hey, half my stomach is gone. Could you feel stuff on the inside?

Or were you just overall sore?

And I mean when you're consciously awake, not the first drugged wake up when you're still all loopy!

Everyone is different so you'll get a lot of stories. I woke up I was fine. It maybe felt like the day after working out.. Just sore. Aside from that I had no issues and wanted to get up and go home. I walked, read, got bored etc, but that's probably the extent of my complaints.

When I woke up in the recovering room I honestly didn't feel nothing...I was just groggy and very thirsty from being NPO and intubated. I didn't pay attention to pain nor thought anything about my stomach being gone because I was so out of it. I was sleeved 2.5 wks ago and I still feel fine. The fact that my stomach is no longer there doesn't cross my mind. Luckily, I've had no complications nor pain (just after waking up for the first time when I had to walk). Make sure u walk walk walk because u will have a lot of air trapped in there and that is honestly the worst part, the air and trying to pass gas!

I was fine overall just felt drowsy and tired! Ummm the anesthia took a toll on me so I was nauseous for 2 days but that was just me may not be what you experience at all! I had no pain at all stomach was just sore from the staples but when you get them removed like 9 days later it will go away those spots will just be tender! For me this whole journey has been more emotional and mental than any pain! Just prepare yourself in those 2 areas and you will do fine! Goodluck and God Bless

When I woke up, if you want honesty, a lot of horrible pain. It was very bad and for 2 days never gave me anything that made it feel better. He said he had to go thru scar tissue and this was the incision that they pulled the stomach out of. Maybe that is why mine was so bad. I had no gas pain though, I was spared that.

Sleepy and groggy but not bad

Talk to doctors right before you can in OR and tell them any concerns about pain or nausea. Makes a big differnce in the outcome. My gastric sleeve as the easiest of all my surgeries. Just pain in my shoulder from the gas and weakness from meds and not eating. But that was all mild. Sooo glad I did this!

I felt a lot of trapped air..... Got up and walked the halls. That more I walked more the air pressure was released. my surgeon gave me precautionary meds. , for pain, nausea, and acid so I never really suffered from those things. As to the feeling of the stomach being smaller. I didn`t really even think about. I was not hungry or thirsty. I had trouble remembering to drink. I had the best care... the nurse would come in and fill up a line of one oz cups with snapple and some with crushed ice with Water.....Best wishes.... I hope are just as well taken care of!

I'm preparing myself for the worst, so nope! I've had my gallbladder out so I'm imagining it'll be similar but with a bit more pain. I'm 23 and healthy other than my weight so I'm hoping for the best

I woke up really happy, and totally enjoying those leg massager thingys - I wanted them to leave them on all night, LOL!

Well, they really doped me up to try and get my heart rate down, so I was seeing blurry and double for the first night.. The next morning I requested to stop all drugs.

Once I came out of the haze, it wasn't too bad.. Hurt a bit getting up from the couch, or bed.. had to sleep on my right side because the left was where they pulled the stomach out of.

It was a bit uncomfortable to drink at first.. felt like my stomach was full of air and the Water had nowhere to go.. Burping helped a lot... Still does a month out with eating but not water anymore.

The pain pretty much was gone after about day 4 for me.. Just incision pain when moving, which I think was fine for the most part by day 6 or so.. I still have a couple of tender spots that I think are the lower parts of the holes where they had the tools (maybe muscles that where cut) but it's very minor.

Overall, this was my first surgery, and while it's work to get used to my new lifestyle, it really wasn't that bad, and just a month out I feel fine like almost nothing happened.. Except I can only eat a couple of oz. at a time, and dropped almost 50lbs.

ha! They did leave mine on until I was discharged. My legs where all tingly for like an hour after they removed them.

My pain in the recovery room was not managed at all. I had shoddy nurses there. I would have jumped up and ran out if I could felt like I was on fire. Hours later after the second shift floor nurse got my pain under control, I was fine the rest of the time. The good news is that the pain is acute and decreases significantly for many in a matter of days. I stopped taking narcotics in the hospital on the second day and only took Tylenol by IV. Same thing when I got home. Took the liquid narcotics for two days and then just switched to liquid Tylenol. So yeah, you will have pain, it will suck at first but most likely you will feel much better in a matter of days.

I was in absolutely in no pain when I woke up, or ever, I never used any of my pain medication. I had no sensation that more than half of my stomach was gone.

I was groggy when I woke up and felt sick and very nauseous, with in 5 seconds the nurse asked me if I nauseous, I said yes, and she immediately gave a shot of some drug. it worked within 3 seconds and I felt better. So in all no pain and less than 10seconds of feeling sick

Very sleepy and drugged. I had a hard time waking up. I wasn't in a lot of pain. I had some nagging left side aching pain. I still have it a little over a week out.
