Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Hi there,

I am considering Dr. Kirshenbaum in Aurora, CO (www.lapbandrockies.com) I know that there are a few of you in LBT that went to him. I am interested in knowing your thoughts on him and if you have had any complications. I am just a little leary since the price is so low, there is little on the internet about him, and I will be traveling from WI to have this done. ;) Any information you could provide would be much apppreciated...

Thanks!

Sheila:)

Again...I stay off the computer for a couple of days and it feels like eons since I've read the thread!

I've gone and gained 5 lbs. this month...GREAT! I've been highly unmotivated this past week...to do anything! I'm quite irritated with myself. I woke up this morning with a new resolve to get my butt in gear, but it's been slow...although slow is better than nonexistant!

Mark - what the heck is a Veg-O-Matic?

Mark - what the heck is a Veg-O-Matic?

Don't worry marcyinak, most people don't get my jokes. I'm used to it. :biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1:

A Veg-O-Matic is a hand-held, non-electric device that is used to "slice and dice" vegetables. Ron Popeil, King of Infomercials from about 50 years ago, used to sell them on television.

I figured, since Dr. K is getting so busy and all, he could use one of these Veg-O-Matics to save some time on the surgery.

Now that's humor.

hey marcy, you are having surgery on my birthday...woo hoooo I had surgery on Jan 29th and am down 61 pounds so far. Don't worry about gaining...just concentrate, imo, on making healthier choices. That is a must after surgery. Just like alcoholic, I can't be around the "good stuff", I have to choose to do the right thing.

Best wishes girl, best thing I have ever done in my whole life!!!

Thanks Robin! I expect my weight loss to be slower than most because I won't be able to get adjustments often...gotta fly to Anchorage ($$$$) and then see the doc ($$). I'm ok with it going slow, but I have to admit that quick results would be most gratifying!

Hi, Marcy! I managed to get in for a fill on the 10th...ha! Bet your surgery is in the morning...my fill, my third one, will be at 2:15. Lordy, I'm gonna let him fill that band until nothing goes down! Hee hee! Not really. I bet that I need .5 cc more. I hope that does it. It will be here before you know it!

Hi all -

I am happy to report an "official" two pound loss, but now the even better part of that is that I am not obsessing about it. I just kept up the exercise and writing down everything that goes into my mouth. That seems to be the key for me.

I'm going to NYC for a week starting tomorrow. Robin you are absolutely right, I am like and alcoholic. I can't eat like I used to, but could easily stuff the wrong stuff in. I also think there has to be a balance - for me, it can't be about being "perfect." I'll flunk!

Woofay - so sorry to hear about your loss. It is really hard to not revert back to the comfort things we have used all our lives. Could you make something for his memory? I'm thinking that busy hands help me, may they would help you. Heart mending takes time. Maybe plant a tree or a flower bed in his memory. Hugs to a special you!

Drews - thanks for filling us in on that group. It is fun to enjoy outdoor concerts in the summer, but is it the best place to talk? How's the knee?

Have a good week, I'll probably be able to email anyway. It is good to stay in touch.

Hugs,

Ahoy there my friends!

Well, I made it back from Vegas is almost one piece! I trid to leave a post yeaterday but I somehow managed to delete it before I sent it...gggrrrrrrr, so...

Dynamo~congrats on yur 2 pounds, you worked your tail off for it!

Drews~how's the knee? Are you back on your skates?

Woofay~I am sorry to hear what you are going through with your grandpa. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Chris. I can relate, I lost my mother at an early age and it hit me pretty hard. I was pretty much out of it for about 10 years. Don't beat yourself up about the chips, you will make it through this and we are here to help you! You have been doing an amazing job. Keep posting and let us know how things are going and how we can help!

Sunnysea & Lapdancer~how are you gals doing?

Have a powerful day!!!

DREWS....I got a call from Mary last week too! :scalesno: They just were checking in to see how I was doing as well. So nice that even as busy as they are they still follow up!!

MAL...I'm going to Vegas this sunday!! Any good recommendations for things to do/see? I'll only be there for a few days for a conf. but I'm looking forward to it b/c I've never been there as an adult!

Mal! Your back! Did you have a great time? Was it hot? Where all did you go?

Dynamo and Mal~ thanks for the well wishes. Grandpa wanted to see his great grandbabies yesterday, so I took the kids up to the hospital. I think he was very happy to see them. I ate a salad when I got home from that instead of pigging out on something I really wanted and made it past the "food triggers". Maybe the scale will say something good today...:scalesno:

Mal~ I get another fill on the 10th, I forgot what day you said your fill is. Is it the 11th? Do you think your ready? Is your scale still moving? How did you do in Vegas? Everything there is soooo yummy, from Starbucks drinks to cocktails to dessert buffets....mmmmmmmm. If I had been in front of one of those dessert cart thingies the other day (sunday) I probably would have blown my stomach apart!:hungry:

Well, can't wait for the 12th. Looking forward to it again. I'm going to try and get another 6 lbs off by then....hee hee! We'll see...the 4th of July....which is another reason to eat! HA!

VABandster~have a good conference in Vegas! I hope that you get some time to enjoy it. I can't imagine companies having conferences there. Would any of the employees really be thinking "wow, lets concentrate on the new prospectus" or "That key speaker really motivated me" when there are all those machines and shows out there? :scalesno::biggrin1::scales::biggrin1::lol::biggrin1::lol::biggrin1::P:biggrin1:

Morning Everyone!

Sorry I've been out of the loop for a bit.

I began excercising yesterday!!! Went to a water aerobics class and felt fantastic. I was suppose to go back today for the same one hour workout but when I put my feet on the floor I thought my back was going to crack. One word: OUCH.

Doing good. My stomach ( where the majority of my fat is ) is starting to look funky. I can now see the texture difference going from normal to the stretch. :: Think glassy waters of a pristine lake to choppy ocean currents. I also can see stretch marks now.

Wow, makes me realize that being so big was like using the BLOW option over my stomach on Photoshop.

Looking forward to July. I'm coming out with my son. (awww me)

My appt. is July 12th at 11:30.

Everyone have an awesome day.

Patty

SSSOOOOO, much to see and do! Where will you be staying? Depends on what you are interested in. If you are a thrill seeker, there are a few coasters! If you like shows, then you have a ton to choose from. You must see the Bilagio and the fountian, very nice. If you like to play the tables, I reccomend downtown casinos (they seem to have cheaper tables), you must also go downtown to see the Freemont Street light show, pretty cool. The night life of course is outta this world! We spent $400.00 for a bottle of vodka and a table on the dance floor...fun, fun, but will not do that again! Be ready to take lots of pictures...beautiful scenery...oh yeah and take lots of ones$$$ tip, tip, tip!!!

You will have a blast, I am very happy to be home.

Mal! Your back! Did you have a great time? Was it hot? Where all did you go?

I had fun, but I over id it and I am EXHAUSTED!! It was WWWAAAYYY HOT! I tried not to be outside for very long. This time, went Downtown, playe some Blackjack, danced my butt off, they had a 70's band...I LOVE my DISCO!!! We went to a couple of clubs and danced more. Took the kids to ride the coaster an NY NY and then they went out one night to the Stratosphere and rode the rides at the top. Wlaked the strip a little bit one night, I wanted to see the Billagio fountians again. We wanted to check out he Lions at the MGM, they were sleeping, boring! Checked out the Lexus & Excaliber. Hubby won $800.00, I lost, so I gave up playing after the second day. Friends wanted to hit the nuddy pool...I laughed in their faces!! They are all skinny and in great shape, I backed out of that one, don't even think I would have gone if I were skinny and in shape...just not my style! They went and had a good time.

I had a cold slushie drink and thought of you, but it was red not blue!

I thought I was going to go crazy with the food, but I couldn't eat much for some reason. We went o two buffets and what a waste of $$, I could only eat maybe one fourth og a plate....I guess that's good. I felt starving but couldn't eat...I was diggin' that!

GOOD FOR YOU!!! Hang in there! I know what it's like. I just had a Turkey sandwich for lunch and couldn't pass up the chips...so I had a few, not as much as I would have before, which could of been the entire bag. i had one hand full and put the bag away...they were delicious!!

My fill is July 2nd, my very first! I am ready!! This will be your third? Have you had one a month? I hope i can get a good fill the first time, I really hate to take time off of work.
