Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Hi there,

I am considering Dr. Kirshenbaum in Aurora, CO (www.lapbandrockies.com) I know that there are a few of you in LBT that went to him. I am interested in knowing your thoughts on him and if you have had any complications. I am just a little leary since the price is so low, there is little on the internet about him, and I will be traveling from WI to have this done. ;) Any information you could provide would be much apppreciated...

Thanks!

Sheila:)

Great read Mal. Got pictures??? Loved hearing about Vegas. I've never been. It seems to be the hot spot to go to.

I STILL don't know how to post pics here...I have some pics, maybe my children can help me post them (how sad is that?)..I'll give it a try!

Well, my boys took off on me! What else is new?! I tried to figure out how to post pics here and it gave me a headache...I'll try again later!

Lapdancer, how is that fill working for you? Congrats on the water arobics! Hope your muscles are feeling better. I was supposed to start working out yesterday, car had to go to the shop and today...my hubby's car is in the shop so he has mine!! Another day!

Yaaaaaaa Mal! Saved by the broken down car! (EXERCISE SUCKS!) :(

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

VA Bandster - You will not want for something to do in Vegas. I went with my husband last year (he had a conference...actually stayed for the whole thing, which, apparently, is odd). We don't smoke, drink, or gamble, so it was interesting to say the least. We caught a couple of shows, but there's so much FREE stuff to do....just walk down the sidewalk! DO NOT, however, get suckered into a timeshare meeting that will give you free tickets to see stuff...they even try to get you to go AWOL on the meetings you're there to attend! Anyway, have fun! Oh, across the strip from Ceasars Palace is a stand that sells the face/body sea salt stuff...an INCREDIBLE looking Iranian fellow will rub you all over...for free...gotta love it! Oh...he was a beautiful specimen!

Woofay - how blessed you are to be able to see him BEFORE he goes. It is difficult with us being so far from family...we've talked about spending the money/miles to see the grandma (no grandpas left) BEFORE they go instead of not being able to SAY something to them.

Crappy weather here lately...makes me want to shut myself in and do nothing with a book and a blanket...unfortunately (or fortunately) there are no book stores here and the library is about as big as a bus so I don't have a good book selection...I'll just order some today and hope that I can read in the sun! LOL!

Woofay - just noticing your weight loss. Incredible!

What's the consensus of how much we should be losing the first few months? Should I expect to have at least 30 lbs gone by September? I have a fill scheduled for 5 weeks after surgery (surgery in July, fill in Aug) and thinking that I'll be able to do another fill in Sept. I'm going on a cruise in Nov. and would like to be down a bit for that. I'm not expecting to by skinny (I AM realistic), but I think I'll lose around 10 before surgery and then maybe 30 by November...that'll make me feel GREAT for the hikes up "ancient temples" with my son!

Mal, I'm staying at Ballys.....I'm hoping to get in a good show or two in the evenings when I have free time!

Woofay...I'm really not into gambling that much, but I'm sure all those sparkly lights will be enticing! ;-) Yeah, hard to believe so many companies have conferences there...but hey, who am I to complain! :(

Marcy~Thanks about the weightloss. I would think you could reach those goals if you work at it. The crappy part thus far is, it's just like a diet because I don't have good restriction yet. I've always done okay with diets, just can't keep it off. (and I hate to exercise!)(surprised?) I'm hoping the 10th puts me in a better place and it won't just seem like a diet.

Also, I am blessed that we got to see grandpa yesterday, and he was aware and knew the kids were there. Yesterday, I wouldn't have said that it would be tonight. But I guess last night brought a turn for the worse. Still haven't heard from gramma, so I assume he is still with us. Wish I had a Ding Dong....:think

Thanks Mal! The neat part is, I do know that you guys are here for me! We have family flying in today and I need to pick them up at the airport today. So far just at the local Springs airport, but I wouldn't be surprised if I need to go to DIA today too...I haven't received any calls this morning, so again, I'm assuming he's still here. Maybe he's waiting for my husband's mom to get here. I worked with hospice units so long that I do know people hang in there for the right moment.

I kinda pigged out last night. I'm not sure I'll ever get rid of that food trigger during intense stress. I didn't pig out on what I really wanted, but I still did sorta. And I only mean that in a way that I ate without true hunger triggers. Rats.

Have a great day, All! I'll probably be on here between driving, instead of doing laundry and all the other stuff that needs to be done! Hee hee!

Woofay... I am sending you huge hugs girl!!

I am doing good. I turned 32 yesterday but I'm telling everyone I'm 27... what a dork, eh? I don't look 32, so at least I have that going for me! My knee is doing great. I have my last session of PT this afternoon. I skated for the first time in almost 3 months on Tuesday. it was freakin awesome!! I lasted over an hour straight and didn't fall. My balance is a bit shaky but I guess that's to be expected. I'm hoping to get back in action on July 16th. I see my doc on July 12 so you girls who I see that night will be the first to know how it went! I have lost 12 of the 14 pounds I gained after my knee surgery. Just 2 pounds away from my lowest now!

Here's a pic from my bday party on saturday!

Drews!!!!!!! I must say you look maaaaaaahvelous! And Happy Birthday!!!! Mine is Sunday....And I'm telling everyone I'm only 32! Funny, huh! So glad your knee is doing well. Also glad those pounds came off for you! Way to go!:clap2:

Hey Mal. I went to water aerobics again today. There was a different teacher there. I do love her style. She added some YOGA which was fantastic. I feel I got a focused workout today. I'm so out of shape. It's pathetic. My mother can do better than I can. But the teacher is younger, more my age and most of the ladies are my mother's age so it was like having a friend there. She played great music. It was just a super workout.

>>But I was in group and Dyno Mini has her own trainer which I LOVE that concept<<

But I'll stick with this. It works for me.

You know when it rains in pours it seems. The upside is atleast the cars will be fixed.

My fill is fantastic. I'm sailing along and feeling what RESTRICTION really feels like. I know when I'm full. It goes ...sssscreeeech.. and I dare not put one more bite in my mouth.

I think this next fill will set me for a few months. I'm right on the edge. I can still eat a little bit more than I think I should and breaking that habit is going to be a huge thing.

I do not regret one ounce having this Lap Band put in. I wish I'd done it sooner!

You're hot baby! Lookin' good.

Happy Birthday to the young gals! I'm 41 and I tell everyone I can't remember how old I am...which isn't a stretch, I often forget if I am 40 or 41 and sometimes 42??? It's just another number. Sometimes I behave like a 20 somethin', tonight I am going to the Breaking Benjamin concert...this morning I was thinking, what was I thinking...a week night, gotta wake at 5:30...gotta learn to act my age!!! LOL!!

good times!

Lapdancer~water arobics sounds fun. I love jazzercise! been thinking about rejoining, and of course my gym, I hhave been a member for over a year and haven't been in months!! Gotta get back on track!

Woofay~drive safe! I'll be thinking about ya'.

Drews~you are glowing in your picture! Congrats on getting back on the skates and losing the 12 pounds. Hope to hear good news on the 12th!

VA~You will have a great time in Vegas. I think Bally's is bit off of the srip, not really sure. There is sooo much to do wether you see the sights, shows, gamble, night life...it can be alot of fun. I just love to people watch, the later it gets the more entertaining it is. Oh yeah don't forget your watch, there are no clocks in Vegas (besides your room).
