Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Well, you may get your wish after you're banded! I have never had so much gas in my life. It's embarrassing! I know what you mean about having the bed to yourself . . . .whenever DH is out of town, I sleep diagonally on the bed, just cuz I can!

I don't have much gas UNLESS I use a straw! Then it's insane! I drank my fave Starbucks, Passion Lemonade Tea (sans the sugar syrup) with a straw the other day and I was dying! Then I did it again and sure enough - it's the straw!

Ok, I know I'm a little obsessive and I just weighed myself for the third time today but I usually have to wait for my body to get going before I can get the correct reading for the day and I am down 20 lbs!!!!!!!!! YYYYYAAAAYYYY!!!!!:thumbup::thumbup::tt2::laugh::thumbup::glare::lol::sad::tt2::w00t::thumbup::mellow::smile2::cool2:

I found the same thing Lotza! If I weigh after pee'g immediately after rising, I am higher than if I wait and weigh just before eating Breakfast or drinking my Protein Shake prior to working out. Odd isn't it? Congrats on that 20lbs! Doesn't it feel good?

Thanks Marcy! That sounds like a great recipe! I have to try it! I got an ice cream maker for my birthday from a friend of mine! Nice gift!

I think working 4 12's should count as exercise. Good heavens.

I know what you mean about those exercise people though. What's up with that? I don't get it.

People who work out without even thinking about it, they aren't human! I think they are from another world... not this one!

I had some of that B&J Peach Cobbler ice cream last night...ate the whole thing! Had terrible gas afterwards. Hubby almost kicked me out of bed last night!

Happy BANDiversary Dee!!!

Gas from Ice Cream? Oh no!!! Are you a little lactose intolerant? I loved that Ice Cream!

My daughter works at Cold Stone and she can bring home a small container after each shift. She brought me home my treat for my BFL free day. It's tomorrow! Yeah BABY!

Yup, just the teeniest bit lactose intolerance. cheese doesn't bother me, but anything more than a scoop of ice cream leaves me gassy and bloated-feeling. I can't drink chocolate milk either. Well, I can drink chocolate milk - my husband just doesn't like me when I do!

Congrats!!! Thanks for popping in! I'm glad you're doing pretty well! Yup, that larger incision can give a little discomfort! I do remember that well! But by day 4 you'll be feeling much better! Take it slow, sip your Water, walk as you can tolerate and enjoy knowing you're on your way to being a healthier person!!! The Loser's Bench is happy to have you!

Take Care Fellow Bandito!:thumbup::smile::cool2:

YAY!! So happy to hear you're doing well. Also, a very good sign that your surgery was at 9:00 and you were on your way home at 1:00. My mom will be with me and I hate to think of her having to wait around all day.

Keep us posted on your progress. :cool2:

Hey! If I scoot over, I'll have to sit next to Shelbi! AND I don't want to! She's a meanie! I think she should spend some time on the naughty chair!

Jaime - You know...once my husband and I were going to start a diet together (Nutrisystem, I think) and we totally had last supper syndrome...we ate B&J every night until our first box arrived...needless to say we eat had 10 lbs. MORE to lose by the time the box got to us! Haha! Just be careful...you don't have to over-indulge. SOME things you still will be able to eat (heck, I can still drink soda and I'm pretty tight - now, most people can't, so I take it as a blessing:cool2:) MANY of the things I can't eat I don't WANT to eat anymore so it's not a biggie...so just relax and know that if you can get through this pre-op, you'll be TOTALLY successful in bandland! That really is the first test of the band...right before you get it! We're here/hear for you!

ColoCrazy - it has only been your presence here that has brought out the negative in anyone...I'm sorry that you haven't felt the support here that others have. I hope you have another group so that you may be as successful as we are here. I'm one of the *small* handful of folks that was at the beginning of this thread so I can say that this really IS a great group of supportive people. We ALL have to find where we're comfortable and it is obvious that you aren't comfortable here.

Volleyball - well, that team I'm on is...well...CRAZY! :w00t:We don't get along and we've got a few ball-hogs on the team. Anyone ever watch that movie "Church Ball"? The premise behind it is the Mormons (and especially the missionaries) play basketball - and they're out for blood...totally dominant and crazy. It's a parody, but TOTALLY true (I'm Mormon and can talk about it with some sort of authority.) Anyway, we've got the missionaries on our team and one of them is Samoan and he's playing his own version of church ball....I called him on it last night while we were having dinner and I explained that I was no longer going to get bulldozed into...I was going to start doing some bulldozing...heck, I need to have fun, eh?:cool2:

Now...scroll down if you can't handle it...the recipe for B&J pumpkin Ice Cream...straight from their cookbook:

2 larg eggs

3/4 cup sugar

2 cups heavy whipping cream

1 cup milk

(this is the base...it is important to whisk the eggs, then add the sugar a little at a time)

1 cup unsweetened canned pumpkin

1 tsp ground nutmeg

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1. prepare the base. Pourt ~ 1 cup of base into another bowl, add the pumpkin and spices, stir until blended. Add the remaining cup of base.

2. transfer to an ice cream maker and mix away

Makes "generous" 1 quart.:w00t:

I didn't know they had a cookbook!! I have an ice cream maker and I am so making this pumpkin ice cream, thanks soooo much :w00t:

Aww go ahead, sit next to Shelbi. Save the seat for me though. When I'm an official Bandito I want to sit next to my NC girl Shelbi and my crazy girl Munchkin - if they'll have me. :cool2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
