Kind of off topic but I saw a great documentary called "does your soul have a cold"

It was about the big pharmaceutical companies marketing their wares to the people of Japan.

Very eye opening as to the way these ads and commercials sway us into thinking we might

"Need" these things!

Good movie check it out if you can!

Benedryl or hydroxine might help if you do not have extreme insomnia. They both basically have the same active ingredients as Unisom. Unisom is usually 50 mg where benedryl and hydroxine are 25 mg per gel or capsule. They are also the only sleep aids that do not leave me feeling drugged in the morning. Quite the opposite - well rested and ready for the day. For me, I found two work the best to help me fall asleep and stay asleep until morning. However, if you do not need sleep aids, then it is best not to depend on them. Recently, I have started taking Amazing Grass (a green powder that can be drunk). I am happy to say it has been over a week since I have needed to take any Unisom. A miracle. :)

prior to me having this surgery I was in the hospital for an ulcer, which thankfully i decided to have surgery they found out I had H. PYlori, which the hospital didn't even find but my doc prescribed Nexium for the reflux, but did my insurance cover it NOPE, then I ended up in the hospital with an ulcer which probably would have been prevented with the nexium, love how they'll spend that extra money for my hospital stay but not the medications.

I've tried taking Melatonin..it does nothing for me..There are times when the Ambien does nothing for me and I need a Xanax in conjuction with it. I usually take it right when I'm ready to go to sleep' date=' I can't fall asleep in the dark so my tv is on but maybe I'll try turning it off..It really sucks doing so good all day to remember eating a meal when I'm not even "awake."

The only thing I've done on Ambien is the sex and cooking, thankfully no driving..my husband would know enough to stop me cuz half the time I don't know where my keys are anyway.

I hate not being able to sleep..I worked through my depression with help of my therapist and coming off my meds before surgery..Ambien and the Xanax are the only thing left, but I get bad anxiety and work myself up so the Xanax may always stay plus its so minute that it shouldn't be an issue.[/quote']

Xanax and ambien is a deadly combo! Surely your doc doesn't know you're doing that!

I have done some crazy things on ambien. The sex part (for some reason my hubby enjoys), I have eaten and not known... And answered emails and edited wedding photos (I am a wedding photog). When I first was on it, I swore I saw aliens in my bedroom. This stuff is whacked but I can't find anything else that works. I am still looking though. Caught a show that featured a women that went out and drove while on it and killed another person and was charged and did time for vehicular homicide. It's scary!

Yeah for a while sex was what I did..No complaints from my hubby..he misses that..It is so hard to explain unless you experience it..I took have tried other alternatives but Ambien works, and sometimes even it doesn't help. Thankfully i never put my car keys in the same place and half the time can't fnd them so driving will probably never happen with me. It is scary though

I had to detox for a week after being on Ambien for six months. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I had to re-teach myself how to fall asleep; it was like I had forgotten. I stopped taking it because my husband would tell me all the wackadoo things I would do. One time he found me in the garage playing with sparklers. I wouldn't stay in bed :(

After that, I decided I had to take charge.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
