When I was on full liquids, I found that a few spoonfuls of McCormick prepared packaged gravy mix was a wonderful treat to break the monotony. I couldn't eat a bite of Healthy Request creamed Soup (not because my tastes changed, but because it's inedible)-- but liquefying and straining Progresso Light Soup also worked really well for me.

I'm just about 6 weeks out now, so while I'm on soft foods-- full liquids is still a very vivid memory.

I still drink a Protein shake a day, especially after the gym. Today I tried SF Carnation Breakfast Essentials with a scoop of nectar Unflavored and 8oz. of unflavored coconut milk. Inexpensive, and not bad-- but only 16g of Protein. Next time I'll try it with 2 scoops of nectar Unflavored to bring it up to 26g of protein. Despite having extensively experimented with protein powders, I still haven't found the magic combination-- but mixing it up has helped.

Good luck!

I found a super advance choc at Walmart that's pretty good. I only do 6oz of milk with 2 scoops and I also discovered the sugar-free flavored syrups (Like at Starbucks for coffee) are really good. There is a site called Lollicups ( I think) where they are inexpensive. I have also found adding these syrups to other things are pretty good for something different.

This is against the grain but I'm actually juicing (and still straining) leafy greens, fruits and veggies all together to make a green drink. It's about all i can stand. Gatorade is so fakey, don't like Jello, never have. Protein drinks are ok, I'm drinking a room temp premier for lunch but still juicin for bfast and dinner. Powdered Protein drinks tick me off. If you shake them in a shaker they separate. If you blenderrr them they turn to froth. I'm putting them up for a whole and I'll try again in a few months.

Oh plus most of my samples say things like "do not take I'd you are pregnant or considering, etc" and I'm thinking that doesn't sound very healthy.

Can you use spices? I've been adding pumpkin pie spice to chocolate and vanilla powders with light vanilla soy milk, and it's SO good. I'm still pre-op so I'm not sure if that's ok, but I bet it probably would be ok post-op in the full liquids phase.

Maybe you could use other seasonings for broths, too?

I definitely feel for you. This is hard! And I can imagine it only gets harder, so you clearly are kicking butt to be getting through it!

I'm 12 days out from the sleeve and finding it super hard to drink the Protein shakes and drink the creamed Soups. I have 9 more days in this stage and I'm about to have a fit. I want variety from Propel' date=' Water, SF popsicles, crystal light, and hot teas. Maybe a word of encouragement and to know others have struggled too will help.[/quote']

I am 2 weeks PO. I will start my Protein Wednesday for guess how long....6 weeks. Yep you got it. So I have to be very creative.

I drink the Isopure with a Crystal Light packet and it makes all the difference in the world!!!

I bought some Torani SF syrups to add to the powder. I will do at least one a day and the Unflavored in my creamed Soups. This is going to be very interesting to say the least!

Oh BTW, I did ask if I could advance and the answer I received was a flat out No. I'm not upset about it because I do not want any repercussions.

You can do it!

I tried one and it took me a whole 2 days to stomach Isopure. I tried the chocolate Muscle milk today and believe it or not, I like it. I will buy a few cases of these.

I never thought about mixing the Crystal Light in the Isopure. I tried Isopure alone and it took me 2 days to drink one bottle.

Yes, I tried the Alpine Punch and the Mango Peach with the Lemonade Crystal light. It has to be ice cold. It will change your mind.

I tied it once before but whichever flavor I had of both did not mix well.

If you've ever had the Reese's Puff Cereal and like it Whey Protein has a chocolate Peanut Butter Flavor (powder) that tastes just like the cereal with skim milk - I bought some tonight because I first bought the Vanilla kind, but just so much as the smell of Vanilla makes me sick. Trying it now and am so excited that I found as I will now have a better chance at getting in all my protein and fluids!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
