Hi everyone,

I just have to put it out there that I am very thirsty at night. I drink all day long. My Fluid intake (since I am on liquids still) is averaging 102 oz. So as you can guess I am constantly sipping.

Has anyone else awoke with a dry mouth and excessive thirst?

3 1/2 weeks out. I still wake up with a dry mouth. I try to keep Water by the bed and sip thru the night. My mouth is so dry when I wake up it feels like concrete!!!

I have noticed that I have to brunch a little more than usual too. I think it is the Protein Shakes that is coating it.

I have been waking up at 2 am to drink 4 oz but it still does not help. I will try drinking gatorade before bed and see if that does anything. Some people on here have said that the thirst was related to dehydration. I don't get that though because I am drinking more NOW than ever before. I think that with weight loss your body needs more Water as it does when in ketosis. When the body is in the phase we may experience nights of extreme thirst.

Ok... so the Gatorade at night does help a little with not being excessively thirsty when awakening.

I was sleeved on 4/17. I lost my 30lbs and am now in a stall for 10 days now! Ugh! Extremely frustrating being stuck at 265. I really want to see the 50s.

Call me super positive, but, have any of you actually measured yourself? I mean really measured your thighs, upper arm, forearm, neck, waist, hips, chest?

Chances are really good that IF you are following the Dr's guidelines you are most likely having small body adjustments and have lost size. I encourage everyone to do this twice a month. I did it just so I can keep track and if I do ever have a plateau, I will know it is a true stall when EVERYTHING doesn't move. That is something I can show the Dr and NUT and we can work on figuring out how to solve the issue.

I know that the scale can give discouraging (and misleading) numbers, but cover up the numbers with a piece of masking tape and put your goal weight on the tape. Only find out this info from your Dr. at check ups because that is the weight that is going to matter when it is recorded in your record.

It is stressful enough trying to readjust to life post op and enjoy foods one at a time, why add more?

On another note, I did ask a few people in my San Diego Support group about hitting stalls/plateaus. Almost all of them swore by eating avocado with every meal for a week to break the plateau. When I can I will upload a .pdf file that explain a bit more about this.

I have measured myself and it does help..when I was in a 2 week stall on the scale, I took my measurements again and had lost 5 inches, so that made me feel better..I love avocado's! I eat them all the time but didn't know about with meals..Would love to read the article when you get a chance to upload it, thanks..

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
