Am I the only one who has never thrown up?

I came very close to throwing up during my leak test, but I haven't thrown up since my surgery on Valentines day.

I have a shake with 28g mixed with milk 9g @ 5am, yogurt that's 14g @8am, Protein Bar @10 with 19g, cottage cheese 10g@ noon. So that 80 grams at lunch. I pretty much don't eat it if doesn't have protein.... after my daily goal is met its a whatever I want. I don't really count calories yet because when I did it was always below 1000 calories. I eat every two hours to make sure I eat enough, I don't feel hunger so I put myself on a time schedule.

Kudos to you! Really make sure you are getting a lot of Protein. Talk to your nut and make sure they know you're losing hair. That shouldn't happen. It's your body's way of letting you know it's in distress and needs more nutrients. Kind of like a plant shedding leaves when the soil lacks nutrients. Best of Luck!

Actually Hair loss is a side effect of the surgery. I eat over 100grams of protein a day plus take Biotin. It is just ond of those things.

I read that for some people the anesthesia makes their hair fall out. From month 4 out, you would lose hair due to a Vitamin deficiency.

That's awesome that you're able to get all that protein in! Our bodies all absorb bioavailable(consumable) nutrients differently, just so you're aware. I'm a pre-med student, so I've been flooded with all this info. There is always a biological explanation as to why we experience change in our bodies. Nothing is ever just one of those things. With that said, your hair loss could be from the distress that your body is going through or from malabsorption of the protein you are consuming. Keep at it though! Your body will adjust if it's stressed, and if it doesn't you could switch up the types of protein you are consuming and when you're consuming them. Best Wishes :-)

As a side note for the ladies, dont forget to get bra fitting after a significant amount of weight loss. I just had one last week and it just feels amazing when you're lifted properly. My new clothes fit fantastically now and it looks like I've lost more than I actually have! Yeah baby!

I havent either. But my Vitamins are starting to make me nauseous. (Weird)

Finally able to get "all" my Water in.

If I can only get a handle on PMS. That is the only time I struggle with head hunger.

Happy with my weight loss so far. Started out 1lb a week (no stalls yet, not even the 3rd week), now up to 2lbs a week.

Hey Guys,

Sleeved 2/4 and I am down 70lbs ( pre and post). Been hanging around the same weight for about a week now so I have upped my Protein. I also upped it since my hair is falling out. I always got the 60g but now my nut said I can try for 80-100g.

I still can't eat a lot...Duh, reason for the surgery. I can eat 1 oz of protein at a time. This really limits how much protein I can get. Until yesterday. I went to chick fil a and they have grilled nuggets. So yummy, 4 pieces are 80 calories and 17g of protein. I bought 3 bowls today so I can eat them at work the next few days. They are small and really pack an awesome protein punch.

I also mix unflavored whey protein ( Isopure or unjury) with Water and fruit flavored packets. It's decent and I love that I can change the flavor every time I make it. I haven't been a fan of any fruit Protein Drinks until I started doing this. ( lemonade is also good)

Just wanted to give some ideas to anyone who might be struggling with protein.

I love hearing about everyone journeys, can't wait to see what the future holds.

Not to be argumentative but it is one of those things. Your hair is essentially dead protein so what you ate three months ago shows up in your hair today. So with the shock of surgery and the lack of protein you don't get in the first few weeks after surgery...three months later you experience hair loss. These boards and the research all show this as a possible side effect. Regardless of what type of protein I eat or etc., it happened and I take it in stride because I knew it was coming.

I can certainly assure you it is not a Vitamin deficiency. I am a walking pharmacy with the supplements I take.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
