FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

Recommended Posts

Well, daycare called and said there's an outbreak of stomach flu with the kids there. Guess that answers my question. Sorry everyone!

I've lost 4 lbs since yesterday morning thanks to this. :(

Please contact your PCP. With losing that much for that long you are probably dehydrated. There are meds that can help with the vomiting and diarrhea so you can keep in some fluids

I too had a blood clot... only it was on my liver, and picked up in a CT scan 3 weeks after surgery. Had it not been for the CT scan, I'm not so sure things would have turned out quite the same. I had a lot of pain in my left side, which was causing an issue because the actual problem was on the right side. The pain did not get better with any types of medication, including morphine. I also lost weight really fast - about a pound a day. I know the symptoms are different when the clots are in the legs and arms, and liver clots are really rare, but just wanted to share my symptoms if it could help others.

This is TMI. I'm sorry. I'm worried and wondering if anyone can offer an idea.

I'm so sick right now and not sure what's going on.

On Friday night' date=' my 3 year old daughter threw up three times in her bed, then on Sat and Sun she had loose stools. She also has a cough and runny nose.

Last night, right before bed, I had diarrhea, and since midnight last night (12 hrs ago) have had it every 30min-1hr. I didn't get any sleep last night because of this. I've gone at least 16 times but lost count. Each time it seems like a lot. I also threw up 3 times. The first time was what looked like spit or foam, and the other two times were dry heaves for several minutes.

I'm so weak and exhausted and thirsty, and my butt freaking hurts. I couldn't keep Water down during the night at all, but just now I finished a glass, which prompted a run to the bathroom again. The thought of food makes me feel sick to my stomach.

Do you think I just caught my daughter's bug, but much worse? Or could this be sleeve related?

Edit: This is the first time anything like this has happened since my surgery. My first time throwing up since then too.[/quote']

Sorry :(

But for the bunghole use desitin or a&d ointment it will help with the pain.

Hope you better soon

LOL Guess I'll be raiding my daughter's stash. Surgeon's office said Pepto and Immodium are fine to take, so I took both and am keeping my fingers crossed.

PhilyNurse - Did you all have it around the same time? That would be beyond horrible!

Right on! I was just thinking the other day that walking up our stairs didn't hurt the knees nearly as much anymore, too!

I just made the ricotta bake...omg it was yummy!!!!

What stage are you in? I am in Stage 2 pureed, it is on my menu list. I just wondered it we had to puree it or if it is soft and gooey enough to go down. My guidelines say cottage cheese consistency or pureed. Can't wait to try it , it sounds great.

I am on purées too. I didn't purée this bake because it really is soft enough on its own. The ricotta is pretty soft to begin with.

Need your prayers--- at the ER to run tests. Left shoulder and rib area pain when taking deep breaths. Nothing really painful, just different. If I've learned nothing from this site, it's listen to your body....so thus I am;).

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
