FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 2/12. The first week I lost 12 lbs. then 4 lbs' date=' then 3 lbs., and this week, 0. I wouldnt worry. Although my weightloss is slowing down, that is 20 lbs in one month![/quote']

I was the exact same way and started to really panic. I lost 8 the first week, then didn't lose anything for the next 10 days!! I was so frustrated. I went for a nice walk and the next day the scale started moving again. It is moving each day now. Slowly but surely. Just hang in there and don't get discouraged.

I was sleeved on 2/28 and I'm down 11 pounds. I am having a very very hard time getting in my liquid and very minimal Protein as it seems like all the shakes are upsetting my tummy. I am not going to lie I have cheated a couple times and have had some small pieces of chicken and chewed them very well, I've had some applesauce, and a couple small bites of Ham. They all went down well as long as I didn't rush to eat them. Because I had no protein intake today I did come home and make some scrambled eggs with a little bit of fat-free mozzarella cheese again went down okay but I think I ate it too quickly. I have my appointment with my nutritionist tomorrow and hopefully she oks me to the next stage because I cannot do this liquid stage.

Unflavored powder with Water and crystal light have been my saving grace. I prefer the bottles like this so I can control how sweet it is. (Just make sure you mix the water and powder before you add flavoring- or else mine clumped).

Okay, thank you. I know this seems a bit crazy, but how do you measure the amount of Protein Powder for a bottle as opposed to a shake. Or how much would you suggest to use for the Crystal Light? I mix my Crystal Light right in the bottle the water comes in. I have not used my Blender Bottle or Camelback since surgery. I think the size intimidates me, so I keep it manageable with the 16 oz.

I use 1 scoop of protein powder per 8oz of water. I use the bottles (like the pic I showed) so I have control over the amount of it all, because I too get a bit intimidated by the quantities I have to drink. Maybe try half a bottle of water, with one scoop of protein and then add half a packet of crystal light. Good luck ;)

Try Isopure zero carb ready to drink. You can get them from GNC. My favorite flavor is Alpine punch. They are like flavored Water so easier to get down.

I too have problems getting my protein, Water and purees down. Using Isopure helps.

To get my Water and Protein I use Syntax nectar Protein and crystal light to go packs. I mix two scoops of the protein, fuzzy peach one, with one pack of crystal light white cran peach, 20oz of Water and couple cubes of ice. Stir and shake up. I drink on that from 7am-2pm. It's 46 grams of protein and that's more than half for my day. I also mix the Twisted cherry Syntax Nextar with cherry pomegranate crystal light, both yummy if you like fruity verse milky.

For the rest of the day I fill my 20oz cup back up with water and add a 42g of sunkist protein. I can usually get it down before 7pm. Then dinner, then walk, sometimes, lol, then I work on more water before bed. I'm between 54-64 oz but I'm getting more and more in everyday. Takes time. I was sleeved on feb 11.

Low fat, small curd cottage cheese is a great source of Protein (1/2 c = 15g)...add a diced pear half, canned with 100% juice or no sugar added

Light yogurts, any flavor

Baked fish

I would double check the protein label on the Sunkist Protein. I do not believe that it is whey Protein which is what we need.

I do love my Syntrax though!!!

My nutritionist said somewhere around 600 calories for the first couple of months--not that it's necessarily a goal, but she said that's where most people end up by the time they get in their Protein etc. I'm doing more like 600 to 800 or my blood sugar gets too low and I can't concentrate on work. I am also walking though and will be ramping up to more exercise at the gym this week, so she said that was fine.

Ok i am using myfitnesspal app on my phone to track my calories and Protein now. Yesterday I consumed 589 calories. I'm going to try to get it up to 600 today and see how that goes until I go for my 6 week checkup. Thanks!

It says whey protein isolate. That's why I started using it.

I picked up some Jim Beam Blackened Salmon from the frozen fish section at Walmart that I'm excited to try.

Breakfast today was one egg scrambled with a bit of cheese. Delicious, took me nearly half an hour to eat it, and I'm stuffed. Love this!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
