FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

Recommended Posts

Here's a recipe I found on another thread. Tasted like hot wings without the texture.

1 can chicken

3 Tlbs Blue cheese Dressing (the original called for 2 Tlbs Ranch and Blue cheese crumbles)

1 Tlbs Frank's Red Hot Sauce

Mix together and puree.

Makes about 4 oz and took me all day to get it down but so good. It has 12 gr Protein and 240 calories. I'm sure if you use the light version of the dressing you can reduce the cals a bit.

How far out are you on your surgery' date=' and what are you eating?

I am 3 weeks out, and eating refried Beans topped with finely chopped chicken, melted cheese, and sour cream.

I also eat eggs, chicken salad (chicken & ff mayo), mashed potatoes, and of course, Protein Drinks and yogurt.

I have to admit that I did scrape the toppings off a pepperoni pizza and ate that too the other night.

I haven't had any complications or issues.[/quote']

I am 5 weeks today. I have been cleared for a regular diet from very early on.

Normal day eating;

Breakfast: Protein Shake

Snack- cheese

Lunch- whatever Protein is at work, today was chicken breast, I also had about 5 green olives.

Snack: beef Jerky

Dinner- a protein of sort, normally I don't have room for a vegetable at night.

Snack- a protein shake if needed or another oz of beef jerky.

I can eat 1 oz jerky broken up within about 45 minutes. My lunch and dinner protein pushes it at 1.5 oz

Every doc seems to have different ideas, but my doc has us on 3 weeks thin liquids, followed by 3 weeks soft / puréed / liquids. Soft foods include light yogurts, low fat small curd cottage cheese, ground chicken, ground turkey, mushy veggies (not celery, corn, peas, or asparagus), scrambled eggs. 60g Protein, 64 oz liquid/water, chew, chew, chew.

I agree with Dallas all doctors are different. I have two weeks liquid then one week purée and one week soft mechanical and then healthy diet for life

I am 4 weeks on Thursday and I am on softs and I pretty much eat everything in small portions and finely chopped. I havent really had any issues. I havr not stalled yet but I am a slow loser from the get go. I am averaging 4 pounds a week. I go back to work in Wednesday and I have a feeling my weight loss will pick up as I only work and sleep lol. I'm going to keep close track and see what happens.

I'm so looking forward to moving to the next phase! My 2 week post-op appt is on Wed, and I'm sure the surgeon will give me the go-ahead then for soft/pureed. However, I "cheated" and had one slice of chipotle gouda cheese today and yesterday. Man, is it good. I eat it very slowly, like a treat, and chew so well that I hardly have anything to swallow. I don't feel guilty.

4My2Boys - How is Jerky on the stomach? We have a local jerky maker here who makes amazing hot jerky, and I miss it. I assume you have to chew a LOT?

Question...No pain with drinking (not sipping)' date=' no discomfort at all ever, getting liquids, puddings and cream Soups down easily. Other than no appetite, and easily feeling full, I would wonder if the doc did anything. Am I just blessed or are there others.with similar experience? Sleeved 2/26/13 down 16 lbs in 2 weeks.[/quote']

I was sleeved on 3/1 and feel the same way... I think we should consider ourselves lucky :) feeling full off a little Greek yogurt always makes me chuckle because I don't know a time in my life where a whole yogurt made me full :)

Today is a month for me and I find myself drinking Protein Shakes instead of food. They sit better in my stomach food is just too heavy.

I had my sleeve on feb 27th. I am wondering if my pain levels are typical, my stomach still hurts. I went back to work today and sitting on my standard office chair was very uncomfortable almost painful. When will I be able to sit normally?

I had my sleeve on 2/18 and I felt the same way. While I was off work I was sitting on a office chair using the computer just for a little while and my stomach was hurting. I went back to work last week and I still have some discomfort from time to time gut not real pain. My dr said that it can last for up to 6 weeks do to she put a stint inside to prevent hernia. Oh by the way my right side is the only side that hurts and that is where she stretched my incision to pull the excess stomach out and that's the side with the stint

I was sleeved 2/12 and my lower right side still bothers me a lot. I have a horrible bruise on the incision and I feel that even looking at it hurts. I dont go out except for my doctor follow ups. Right now, I just want to go back to my healthy self more than lose weight. I really hope that this part is over soon :(

That's awesome! I don't think 4 lbs a week is slow. Four pounds a month, maybe a little slow. Think how much that will be in 3 months, 6 months, a year...etc. keep up the great work!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
