Really hope I didn't mess this up.

Sleeved last Tuesday. Doing awesome. Down 33lbs. since I started liquids on 2/15.

Saw Dr. today. His plan originally said full liquids for another week' date=' but he said I was doing really well, & I could "graduate" to Tomato Soup, etc.

He even gave me the go ahead to have a couple of glasses of wine when I go to Vegas in a couple of weeks! I was shocked by that.

So some friends wanted to take me to lunch today at a Thai restaurant. We went. I ordered a spicy broth. (No food pieces, just some spice....the place assigns all food 1-Star to 6-Stars (6 is the spiciest). I got my beef broth a 2 1/2. I are about 3/4C. felt fine then.

2 hours later....toilet time. Diarrhea. Stomach hurts.

I really thought that a little bit of spice was fine.

Could this spice give me a leak?

Worried about it.

[/quote']

I dont think so. I eat spicy food a lot. I have noticed when I do.... I get diarrhea every time. I dont eat spicy my stool is fine. But it doesn't upset my stomach either so my guess is it just doesn't agree

I was sleeved on 2/12 and am down 26 lbs since surgery and a total of 50 since 1/1/13! I'm only 1 lb away from leaving THREE-ville FOREVER!!!

I'm in puréed foods and am getting a little bored. I've searched for recipe ideas but so far, nothing that jumps out at me. Does anyone have any wins they can share with me?

I'm getting in my Protein and fluids and walking daily. I hope to start Zumba in the next few weeks!

Best of luck to all and continued success!!!

Please share any puréed recipes that you love :-)

Hi guys! So excited to be apart of the February Sleevers 2013!! I started at 258.8 2/17 weighed in surgery morning 2/25/13 at 248.2' date=' and today I'm 239. I had a great hospital stay no complications. Great nurses <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I have pain in my right side like a stich when you work out too hard or walk too long. I get full super fast and am having a terrible time getting in the Protein and liquid requirements. But, I'm hopeful each day will get a little easier. And I'm wiped out. You guys give me lots of motivation though and I'm really glad for that![/quote']

Way to go on your success!!! Drinking can be tough at first. What helped me most is I kept a large bottle of Water and 5 medicine cups by me at all times. Each hour, I filled up my 5 cups (5 oz) and drank them over the hour and logged what I drank. It kept me very accountable and helped me realize what I consumed.

Once I moved into my puréed stage I did struggle initially to get in my fluids and eat my meals but after adjusting into it about 1.5 weeks, I found my balance. My DR request that I don't eat or drink 45 min b4 or after eating so getting the necessary fluids was getting tough but it hot better as I continued to log and adjust.

You can add unflavored Protein to your Water to help you increase ur protein intake.

Wishing you the best and continued success!!!

Hi I got sleeved on feb 16th I lost 17 pds in the first week. Since then the scale hasn't moved AT ALL!!! I'm getting so frustrated I even started working out I take my Protein and Water the way I'm supposed to. I don't know what's going on!!! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> Is this normal??

Hi Minnie -

You're not alone!!!! I had lost 21 lbs by my 9th day out and my scale didn't budge for over a week. I am finally moving again after about 9 days of no loss. I think our bodies just need to catch up to the changes. Keep following your diet and walking everyday, it WILL pay off.

Also, look at those Non-Scale-Victories (NSV) like how your clothes look, fit and feel.

Congrats and don't lose hope. Try to keep things in perspective and don't let that evil little scale derail you. YOU GOT THIS!!!!

I was also sleeved in the 25th and having the same issue. I know I'm not getting in my fluids and Protein. I get terrible gas pains every time I drink or eat anything. I have been trying to drink the Atkins shakes but I get so bloated. I'm lactose intolerant' date=' I can no longer get yogurt. I'm looking for a lactose free Protein Powder. It is frustrating but I am positive that it will get better. It has to![/quote']

I am unable to have milk and I found Jay Robb egg white protein. It tastes pretty good. I use the vanilla. Add it to pudding or just crystal light.

I think that is a wonderful outlook!!! We have the rest of our lives to work at this. Being obsessed with the numbers scale is an hold habit of mine that I swore I would not carry over after my surgery. As long as I'm doing what I'm suppose to' date=' and I am feeling the benefits of that... Well, then I am succeeding. No number is going to tell me any different! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />[/quote']

Thank u!! I'll just keep doing what I'm doing see when it starts moving!! Btw I'm going to put my scale away! Lol

Well I had my one week check up for my leak yesterday at the hospital. Had to have a CAT scan and gi series then went over to the surgical center to speak with them for the results. It shows the leak is much improved from my scans last week. I am still on all liquid diet. My goal at this point is to get 60 g of Protein in per day. Since my preop diet and my sleeve on February 19 as of yesterday I am down 50.4 pounds. Seems like I'm heading in the right direction finally. Their surgeon did remove my drain tube to finally yesterday which is great relief not to have that. Hoping I get on track with all the other February sleevers soon. Thanks for your support everyone

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
