I havent lost for 8 days now... I know its to be expected but its still depressing considering what we put ourselves through physically... Plus passing up on our old favorite foods... Especially working in the NICU when a set of parents brings in a huge box of gourmet cupcakes :-/ . Im keeping around 800 cals a day, getting at least 72oz of Water, and pretty much meet my Protein goal of 60g. I know, i know... It didnt come on over night and i wont lose 100lbs in a month...i know stalls and weeks of not losing are expected... Just doesnt make it any less frustrating/depressing since thats two weeks out of the first month

Hi - you are on the right track. I was banded in 2007 and lost 160 pounds; on Jan. 23rd I had my band removed and I was sleeved. During the first year I had my band, I was obsessed with my weight loss. I came to the conclusion that my band wasn't simply about me losing weight, it was more about me focusing on being healthy. I threw away my scale and never weighed myself again (only stepped on a scale when I went to my scheduled doctor's visits). Most importantly, I exercised. I made it a point to do something each day. I walked/jogged; I did sit-ups, pushups; I danced around the house with my kids - anything to increase my endorphins. Throw that scale away and get movin! You are doing great and have made an awesome lifestyle change.

Well you know it can't keep up so it will get better. I have read some people who say sometimes upping your calories or Protein can help break a stall but I don't personally know. Good Luck.

This is off topic, but since you say you work in the NICU I have a question that maybe you can help me with. I am set to graduate in May as an RT. I will probably begin to work 12 hr shifts- I was wondering how you get your Water in while working? I had clinicals in the NICU last week (and again tomorrow), and I was freaking dehydrated. I just need some pointers- thanks!

BTW, I was also stalled for over a week and just broke it (I made my hubby hide my scale & he gets it out for me once a week). Sounds like you're doing great. Keep up the good work.

-Kendra

I completely had this stall about 3 weeks post surgery, and I was freaking out, even though the nutritionist said that it's perfectly normal. I didn't lose for almost 2 weeks, but then things started again quite nicely. It'll happen, just stick to plan!

I stalled at 291 for 4 days. Fiber was the issue for me. Once I added Equate powder in big doses to shakes and eggs things got moving and I am now 287 3 days later. I am active an hour a day every day walking, light weights, and even a short jog here and there. If I let up on that I stall as well.

And by the way - I love what Von said about tossing the scale. Fact is, if you eat the diet the doc gave us and get as active as your life can bear - the weight will come off and the number just don't matter. Living long, well is the goal. And this step takes us all closer to that.

Im going through this right now and it is scary!! I feel like its to soon to be stalling.

I have the same problem. My weight loss seems to slow down for a few days, then I loose. My weight really stalls when I work to many 12 hr night shifts in a row. Our NICU unit is the same, there is always food around from both staff and families. It really makes it hard.

I feel the same way. I had my surgery 1/14. I have lost 14 pounds and have been stalled for about 5 days. I know I know the weight will come off but I want to see it now :).

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
