Congrats on the really great work. You look wonderful.

I know that you'll still have loose skin but it really does rebound once your weight stabilizes for a while. So put off plastics until you've been at goal a while if you can. I had an apron even prior to surgery (I have twins) so I knew the stomach would be rough and I was right. But I was amazed at how much bounced back on it's own. So you might save yourself some procedures if you wait.

Then again, plastics are really the icing on the cake after we work so hard, so why wait if you don't have to? ;)

I was in the same nutritional window in the loss phase and upping it in maintenance happened slowly but surely, so it's possible you'll have more leeway later if you want it. I still have a ton of restriction, too, but it's still a lot more than I was able to eat at one year post op.

Thank you for posting. I appreciate that you not only show a nice, moderate approach to your loss but that you are demonstrating to new folks that you don't have to lose all of the weight in one year to be a success.

Congrats!

~Cheri

Great stuff... but you need to buy new jeans... they are WAY too big!!

Congrats! =]

Ugh. Pants and I hvae a constant fight. I have an absurbly large pannus so I can wear a size 10 or 12 in the waist, but it's SO tight around my lower hanging stomach that I have to go up a size to a 14. I also have REALLY thin legs, I always have had "chicken legs" compared to the rest of me. So yeah, I try to buy "skinny jeans" so that they fit my legs a little better. The waistline still gaps, although the sweetheart ones at Old Navy seem to fit best because they cinch in a little more.

Ah, the problems I have!

But yes, those jeans went away a few weeks after that photo because they were 16s :) The shirt was already too big. LOL. Constantly swapping clothes. It should be fun, but really, it's annoying LOL

Wow you have totally rocked your sleeve. Great to hear your still losing, since I'm at the 6 month point and still have more to lose. Great pics:)

You look great!

This really gives me hope. I'm still in the early stages, first meeting with the surgeon this Wednesday, and I'd love to lose 200+ lbs also. I'm nervous but can't wait to get this journey rolling. Thank you for sharing, you are an inspiration.

Wow! Amazing transformation! Its very evident that you have done a LOT of hardwork to reach where you are... Congrats on your success! :)

I was dreading that my weight loss would stop near the one year mark, but my surgeon told me I can still lose weight easily for 3 to 5 more months. I was hoping to, if not reach goal, atleast get close to goal by 18th month. Your post has given me great confidence! Losing 5+ lbs at around 18th month is AMAZING! Thank you very much for posting this! :)

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
