feel like I'm eating too much!

Recommended Posts

I know it is hard :) somedays I feel like I can eat anything but somedays it's hard to. The one thing though is that foods that are high Protein will make you full faster . I could eat a lot of slider foods like mashed potatoes or tamale :) but give me a piece of chicken (even puréed) 2 oz would be the max.

Oh and something a lot of us learn is that we can still eat a lot of the bad foods without restriction. So when they say this is a tool they are not kidding! I could probably take down a big piece of cake still! But I have to chose not to and concentrate on changing my eating patterns.

I agree!! Slider foods have no restriction so try your best to eat some Protein first with each meal.

I'm still learning!! :)

so this is what I ate today:(second day of soft foods stage)

Protein shake in the early morning 6:30 am

1 pack of grits with one scrambled egg 9:30 am

piece of salmon with 3/4 package of broccoli with cheese (you know those ones in the frozen section that are like 60 calories)12:30pm

pita chips and hummus 5:00 pm

rest of pita chips box and hummus as well as 3 chicken tamales 8:45pm

did I eat too much today and is any of this not good to eat?

also it did not take me 30 minutes to eat ANY of this! I mean a girl can only chew so long!!!

my fear is that I am ruining EVERYTHING already!

Any thoughts on my food intake for the day?

I would use My Fitness Pal or some type of calorie counter.

You have to be real careful when it comes to slider foods. Those are foods that turn to mush in your mouth before you swallow them. They are usually carbs like chips, cake, Cookies, ice cream etc....You are not going to get that full feeling from those foods, in other words restriction, and you'll be able to keep eating and eating.

Lots of great advice on this thread. Keep a diary, My Fitness Pal is great for that. Go back to the diet plan your doctor or nutritionist gave you. Stick to it. By tracking your food you'll know if you're not sticking to your diet. If you need support there's plenty of it on this board.

I use fitness pal and it helps keep me on track. chicken tamales? Those I would believe are too fattening so those are "no". I wasnt even eating half of what your eating at that stage plus my NUT said 1/4 cup was normal at that stage. Im 7 wks out and struggle with 1/4 cup a meal sometimes. Are you drinking plenty of Water? I try to drink as much as I can in between meals. I would call your NUT and start with sticking to their diet.

You don't feel full or pain? I tried to eat cream of wheat this morning and could only eat 1/4 of a package. Make sure you aren't ignoring the full feeling. I would talk to your doc because honestly these meals sound like a meal someone who hasn't been sleeved eats. Don't freak out, you may just need to go back to basics.

Or it could be the OP has a very long stomach and can therefore hold more. Sleeving just reduces the circumference, not the length. I must have a long stomach, as I can hold quite a bit of food. Good news is that I have a super-human metabolism so I rapidly lost weight and made it to goal... (hangs head in shame for getting so heavy in the first place with that super-human metabolism....)

Did your Nut or surgeon give you specific ideas of foods for each phase? Broccoli with cheese sauce? Pita chips? Tamales?

Sounds like they didn't give you enough guidance. I'm certainly no expert, but these don't sound like good choices!

Measure everything and start tracking with MFP!

Actualy I spoke to my nurtitionist today and aside from the tamales(which she wasn't thrilled about but wasn't like oh that's awful!) she said I was doing ok. She saidthat my surgeon's sleeves tend to be a bit bigger, and that some patients can eat up to 8 oz. in a meal, which I guess is what I was eating. So after I went through the list I posted above, she said my choices were fine, sans the tamales. I guess I chose the tamales becase they are chicken and mushy...but I guess I didn't think about nutritional content...oops. Still learning here! I don't feel so bad now!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
