Anyone with surprises at their endoscopy?

I had my endoscopy on the 31st. They found bleeding, infected ulcers, excess acid and a large mass on the wall of my stomach. The ulcers and acid I am not that concerned with. The mass is a whole other story. I am wondering if anyone out there has had any surprises at their appointments? How did it effect your surgery?

I included a photo of my yuck for your viewing pleasure lol.

They found a large hernia and that I have Barrett's Esophagus. Barrett's is when you have acid reflux so bad that your stomach cells replace your esophagus cells so that your esophagus doesn't burn from the acid. That is why I had no heartburn (except for years ago). The bad thing is that people with Barrett's have a higher risk of esophagus or stomach cancer (however it's a very low. %).

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I have Hashimoto too. I've never heard anything about not eating gluten. Go for my endoscopy soon' date=' hard to tell what they will find![/quote']

Well, the primary care physician said that people with ANY auto-immune disease seem to respond favorably when gluten, dairy and sugar are eliminated from their diets. That being said, she did not think I should try to give up all three at once and now having had surgery, I am not sure how I could avoid dairy. But, I stopped eating bread and Pasta over the summer (2012) and when I tried some bread in the autumn, it made me sick like having your period (crampy, diarrhea). While Celiac disease is different in cause, my understanding is that gluten destroys something in the lining of the stomach, so I guess I wondered if that is what gluten was doing to me, too.

It is the size of a golf ball. I am so afraid that it's going to be something terrible. I am a single mother to a 4 year old. My ex is an abusive dead beat. I can't get sick and let the courts give him my son :-(

I will pray for you, but hopefully the mass is isolated and in a part of the stomach that is going to be removed.

I had the cat scan done on Thursday. I was told that I will get the results next week. Now it's just a waiting game. Ugh. Thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers :-)

Please update when you hear, ok?

Have you heard anything? Are you okay or would you like some prayers?

How are you doing? When there is no news, it sometimes worries me more. Hope you are okay.

Sorry I haven't been on. I work a 10 day rotation and sometimes during the rotation I just don't have time to get to a computer lol. The results from the cat scan were inconclusive so they are sending me to Geisinger hospital for more advanced testing. It's a 2 1/2 hour drive, but it will be worth it.
