I had my endoscopy on the 31st. They found bleeding, infected ulcers, excess acid and a large mass on the wall of my stomach. The ulcers and acid I am not that concerned with. The mass is a whole other story. I am wondering if anyone out there has had any surprises at their appointments? How did it effect your surgery?

Sorry I haven't been on. I work a 10 day rotation and sometimes during the rotation I just don't have time to get to a computer lol. The results from the cat scan were inconclusive so they are sending me to Geisinger hospital for more advanced testing. It's a 2 1/2 hour drive' date=' but it will be worth it. [/quote']

I was told I had mild gastroenteritis and a hiatal hernia but when they opened me up there was no hernia, so yay for that at least.

They found a large hernia and that I have Barrett's Esophagus. Barrett's is when you have acid reflux so bad that your stomach cells replace your esophagus cells so that your esophagus doesn't burn from the acid. That is why I had no heartburn (except for years ago). The bad thing is that people with Barrett's have a higher risk of esophagus or stomach cancer (however it's a very low. %).

That was my diagnosis also. Did they prescribe anything for that? I am taking protonix for the foreseeable future. Good Luck to you.
