All of my December sleevers...

Recommended Posts

MsCali Glad to know someone else is going through the same thing. Sometimes I don't want to share on this forum because there are others struggling to lose. But, continuing to lose and almost having an aversion to eating at times is a different kind of struggle.

I find the people on this form are understanding - even if their experience is different and can't offer advice - at minimum they will offer encouragement. :-)

I'm still losing steady about a pound a week. But my journey I must say wasn't the norm. Went from IV bags for about three months feeding me to soft foods. Was hoping after 15 months my restriction would be a little less - but it's okay.

Had a good talk with my dr... He agrees that I need to stop losing. Step one to do so, is to add a meal a day. Step two, add a Protein drink. Step three is to interfere medically (stretching the sleeve). But we both agree - that is at a last resort - only should I become under weight. So far now I've been adding a delicious Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich at 2 am when I can't sleep. Yummy!!

I was still losing but only a few lbs per month. Talked to the nutritionist and she recommended adding 1/4 cup of nuts. It is an easy 200 calories. So far I've stopped losing so we will see if that works.

Just wondering if anyone else out there is still working to lose their weight? I have a few pounds to go, and it's coming off pretty slow, but at least it is still coming off. I had a lot to lose, and I knew it would take a long time, but I just really want to be "done". Of course I can never go back to my old ways, but I'd sure love to feel like I accomplished the goal!

I'm absolutely still working at it! I want to see my personal goal of 173 and won't stop till that number pops up on the scale. That would be 100 lbs down, hopefully well get there before like June, but I am still in the low 180's and my loss has slowed considerably. Pretty much a standstill. I'm still losing inches though so I feel like I will hit my size goal (size 8 pants) before I hit that number. That would be FINE with me!

I'm wearing a size 6 dress today.... I've never worn a size 6 anything in my entire life.

Okay everyone I know this may sound crazy.. But I have to ask.. I know our surgeries assisted us in our weight loss and its a good thing that we have restriction BUT am I the only one who gets mad when we want more but cant fit more? like right now I did only tuna for lunch no bread or crackers but now that I have reached my limit I want a slice of butter toast. (I dont eat crabs very often) But I'm angry I cant eat it because im full. Am I the only one who gets upset like this? Am I the only one who wants to still eat even after being full.. I try to choose the right foods so not to gain the weight back... So I chose a good lunch meal but am frustrated I really wanted a bad food and I really want to keep eating but cant.. Do you think what Im feeling is normal?

Every day. Almost every single day I sit down to a meal that I want to complete and I can't. Typically I can get in two or three bites before I start to feel full. Then I get pissed off and then I wait about a half an hour and try to fit in more food.

I think it's completely normal, you'll find a lot of people feel the same way. The sleeve only alters a body part it doesn't alter your mind.

You are not alone but again I'm happy with the restrictions we did this for a reason

Sometimes I am aggravated that I want something and if I eat it I'm too full, but mostly I'm elated that I can't eat more. Then I'm aggravated that I actually attempted to eat more than I should, just because I wanted it. I make good choice most of the time, and I don't do that very often, but once in a while, I just want what I want, lol. I do think it's normal.

So, I haven't really lost anything since November/December... I've been stuck between 183-185... This week I finally got down to 180... but today I was back up to 182... is everyone else stuck in maintenance? I'm technically still considered "overweight" since for my height I need to be down to 168 :-/ I meet with the Air Force recruiter tomorrow for their graduate school nursing scholarship program and I need to be under 185 to make weight... I'm on a thin line and don't want to go back up any. Any tips for those in maintenance? 12/31/13 was my 1 year - stats in signature.

Are you eating your Protein first and then veggies and avoiding carbs? That would be my advice. Maintenance is not easy by any means.

You have done an amazing job.. I'm like you been stuck where I'm at for wow about 6 months now cant seem to loose more but I also wont lie I eat foods i shouldn't as long as I dont gain I cont care.. If I would drop slider foods and pick up positive foods I would surly loose more weight i just make poor choices and maintain what I am and again im fine with that if your eating carbs (Bread rice Pasta foods with sugar and so on) then that may be the issue when I stick with low carb meals I seem to loose without a problem

So I have a question.... My sleeve date was 12/06/12 and I still have so much restriction. After a 5.3 ounce yogurt I'm still very full am I the only one? Whats the most you can eat? Now I find it funny I can eat wrong foods there for making it seem like the restriction is pointless but I just want to know how much most of us are getting in 16 months out. Oh and by the way I stop eating slider foods and started eating right again so not to start any new bad habits with such a small stomach.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
