How do you calculate post-op weight loss?

Recommended Posts

I was 226 before pre-op diet, 216 before surgery, 220 2 days after surgery, now 212. Do I count from my pre-op weight to now or do I count from my weight after surgery to know?

I count from my pre- op weight because I would not have been on the pre-op diet if I wasn't having the surgery. To me, it's all part of the process.

Hi Chris!

Our numbers are almost exactly the same! What day was your surgery? And I am also counting from my very first appointment. Every ounce counts!!!!

I think it's a personal choice.. there is no right or wrong answer! You count from where you want to! I think I'm going to say from both pre-opt and from day of surgery. So I would say " I have lost _____ lbs all together, _____lbs since surgery" I use to think the only numbers that matter was what was lost after surgery until I started this diet I'm on and how hard I've worked to lose weight. Now I KNOW that what I've lost before hand is important too.

want2live, my surgery was 12/11. I thought counting from my highest (pre-op) to now was the best to do. You guys are right...I want credit for my hard work before the surgery and after. Thanks, guys

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
