I'm glad you are okay but now I'm feeling super uneasy about my surgery because I've had 3 c-sections :/

IWilliams65, you really should talk to your surgeon. My friend had 3 previous surgeries and ended up in ICU because of a bleed. His surgeon however had warned him this might happen. He is doing great now and would do it all over again.

Sorry for "resurrecting" an old thread. I missed the date.

This thread is going to haunt me. I had a massive bleed during the first surgery. I always assumed it was from my stomach....but I was never given details and I too had a csection. The blood loss led to seizures which likely caused the leak....gad do I even want to know?

I'm glad you are okay but now I'm feeling super uneasy about my surgery because I've had 3 c-sections :/

I had two c- sections most recently in January 2009 less than 4 years prior to my WLS. My doctor never even mentioned that it might cause complications. I just think everybody is different.

I guess I am just confused because all of my scars from getting sleeved are well above the belly button. I have never had a c-section but wouldn't the scar tissue from that be much lower? I just assumed that they would not need to cross paths... But I could be way off base.

What a journey it has been for you. Hopefully one day it will be just a memory and you will be happy and healthy. I had a c-section four months before my surgery, scar tissue issues were never brought up by my doc. Never would have thought to ask.

I am sure that you signed a waiver before your surgery. It is a risk that you take. Puncturing your bowel would be lack of skill on part of your surgeon. Truly you wouldn't have a legal leg to stand on. I bet that you are doing terrific now, all the best to you!

Not sure where the OPs WLS openings started but my 3 scars are at, & even with, my navel. My surgeon did that so they would be "removed" if I choose to have a Tummy Tuck later.

You ask a question, "Do I even want to know?" and the reality of the situation is, that even if you knew, it wouldn't change the horrible experience you went threw. Knowing might even bring on more stress and even nightmares that produces more stress. I like to live in the state of gratitude where I'm thankful that I have my wonderful children, even if they are young adults that are doing well in life, I am in better health now than I have been in the past 26 years, and being skinny is one of the most awesome feeling to have. I didn't really know how my weight had a negative down pull on me. I really didn't have any complications from my procedure, but all along I have a pain in my left side when I am full or have over done things throughout the day. I did have an endoscophy and every thing is normal. I contribute it to scar tissue from where my stomach was pulled out. I'm still gratiful because of all the wonderful things that I can do now and my diabetes is in remission. Yayyyyy!

So I truly believe that knowing what happen is not going to be healthy for you. Do continue to share your story with others, it is healing. But I hope you can let the knowing part go. There's really not much you can do to change it. So sorry this has happened to you. So happy your baby has his mommy home! :)

You're quite right :) I don't want to know.

I'm glad you are doing well! And thanks!

And as to the waiver mentioned earlier...you are not signing a waiver to a surgeon's liability if there is negligence involved. If you were you'd never hear of malpractice settlements. The waivers are for complications outside of a surgeon's hands (ie you have heart issues on the table, etc). Not slips of a knife.

Get a personal injury lawyer. Get someone that does not charge you for anything unless you sue. They have a TEAM of medical professionals who can look through all of your medical records to determine if the WLS dr. is at fault. That's what they carry malpractice insurance for. But I believe you have a case and the lawyer's team could determine that. Just a thought.

I am a sleeve with complications, so I understand your story. I'm so sorry that you experienced this. I was 254 in february, had my first surgery in March (03/05/12 to be exact) and just had my 4th and hopeful last bariatric surgery to fix a persistent leak on 12/7. I was an open surgery then so I have the scar that you described. I did 5 miles a day in the gym on the elliptical before surgery, had a c-section in 2004, so we have much in common from your description......

My dr. has been very responsive to my needs during this journey, but I have several persons saying the same thing that I've recommended to you above. However, your bariatric dr. doesn't sound so responsive. Get a lawyer. Please. Get another opinion asap - someone else that you can follow up with if need be.

So sorry you experienced this.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
