Surgery Is On Monday And I Cheated Today(Fri)

Recommended Posts

Yes, I failed. Had a bunch of job stress. Ate mexican and had a margarita last night and then today had a salami and cheese sandwich. Please don't come it to preach---I know I blew it. I hate what I've done. I'm scared. What if my surgeon sees my liver and says forget it? OMG--I can't believe I did this. Can anyone share some empathy, sympathy? Any nurses to tell me I won't die from what I"ve done? Sigh. I'm such a loser.

Your not a loser. My pre-op diet is liquid only for two days prior to surgery. Get back on track and have a successful surgery.

Four nights before my surgery, I ate my favorite meal at PF Chang's (Chinese). I got back on track the next morning. Remembering to keep yourself on track and not letting one mistake derail your efforts will lead you to success. Everyone makes mistakes. Success is over coming them.

Mary, what you are going through is hard, my surgery is not until January, but I am worried about doing the same thing. Do not feel like you failed, please! Pick your self up, dust off and pick up that crazy drink they are giving us.

If it were the night before your surgery I'd say you made a big mistake and advise you come clean to your doc...but it's not :)

Drink a lot of Water over the weekend and tonight to flush the salt out of your system and be a good girl or boy til surgery time!

Remember Santa's watch...umm oh wait that's the threat I do for my son....Your doc wants a pretty liver. :) Be good and drink like a fish (not tequillia though LOL)

My surgery is on Monday also.... you only did what I wanted to do! Don't blame yourself. If we could control our issues with food, I don't think we would be having this surgery, would we? You only have 2 days left... you can do this! Hang in there! I am praying for both of us!

2 nights before my surgery I went to in n out burger. Had a grilled cheese sandwich. And a small pink lemonade. Doesn't seem like much but I was afraid of gaining too much weight before surgery. For a little bit I went into "last meal mode" gotta have my last subway, McDonald's, etc. but then it really clicked that I wasn't doing myself any favors.

You can't do anything about the past. Learn from it and move on : )

First of all, you are not a failure. You simply had a set back.

Put on your big boy pants and move on. stay compliant for the rest of the weekend.

Good luck to you.

Thank you all for your comments and support. It's hard to believe hardly anyone cheats. Maybe people have more will power than me but I find that hard to believe truthfully. We didn't get to this point by following the rules, kwim? I'm going to be fine. Doing clears from here on out and will follow protocal 100% after surgery.

I only had a 2 day diet so I agree get back on track. Also I would do a bowel prep to get the food all the way out. I had to drink magnesium citrate.

Ditto to everything everyone else has said. Thanks for your honesty. I've worried about that too. Good luck!

I agree with everyone else!

Look - you're not a failure. This surgery is hard!! The pre-op diet was the absolute hardest part for me and it makes you begin to think that you can't do this surgery and that this surgery won't work for you. Don't feel that way. Remember what your ultimate goal is. It sounds like you feel very guilty right now and guilt is a horrible feeling to have! When you have the urge to cheat again, think about that guilt and think about the pride you can have instead. This will work for you and you will do great. Just get back on track! You can do it!!! My favorite quote that got me through those days was "Suffer the pain of discipline or suffer the pain of regret." Good luck to you!

JB--thanks I love that quote. I was just putting my wls notes together to put in my binder and I copied and pasted it but increased the font size to 18 and bolded it. It will by in my thouhgts forever.

Here's something I have in that doc I thought you might like:

Six main activities are important for success after surgery:

1. controlling portions

2. eating right for good nutrition

3. setting personal goals

4. exercising

5. reducing stress

6. participating in support groups

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
