I'm just freezing cold in general especially my feet, at night it takes me ages to get warm to be able to sleep.< /p>

oh the feet!!!! I hate evenings now because of my feet being sooooo cold... I feel your pain (and lack of sleep)... I can't stand socks on my feet, but I have started wearing fuzzy socks to bed and take them off as soon as I feel that la la land feeling of sleep.

I had two mornings of feeling a little nauseated so have made my evening meal just a plain shake...put the broth/unjury chicken broth at noon. Im still Clear Liquids. This has worked perfectly and have had no more issues. I end my evening with some mild herb tea and tummy is happy until ready to eat the next morning. I take my prilosec early each morning so may ned to move it to noonish or afternoon once i add solid foods. We are a work in progress i guess and each has to figure out what works! Good luck all. All in all, it sounds like we are all doing pretty well.

I got an electric blanket and turn it on high a couple hours before bed time. It is heavenly! I turn it off or down very low to sleep, but man is it nice to crawl into that blazing hot nest to begin with!

Be careful Kay- I know your sleeve is tolerating food but you're running serious risk of stretching. Especially since you aren't to the soft food stage. I know it's none of my business but I want you to be successful!

Thanks txbrit....u r right...I have 3 more days to the soft food stage....yikes...I'm scared..I just tried a very little to see if I would feel anything different. I will be traveling to Atlanta this wknd and I will have to be on soft foods...none of my family members know about my sleeve so I was just giving myself a trial run to see how I will feel with the family while we are eating out at restaurants each day for 4 days. So 3more days I will have to be ready....ughhh

Anyone else not tell coworkers that they were sleeved? How have you handled it or how do you plan to handle the weight loss questions?

Ive not told any one at work but did start telling them I was dieting before I went for surgery, when I was on the pre op diet I told them I was eating healthy and hopefully lose some weight. I was forced by my boss post op to tell her what I had done but made sure she understood this was said in confidence and I will make a grievance if the other members of staff find out. I feel that I want my privacy and don't want to be the topic on everyones lips. Human nature is to judge and then give opinions, well they are not going to be doing it about me. I'm keeping this to myself, only a chosen few know and that's how I will keep it. :-)

I have thought about getting an electric blanket, at the moment I wrapy feet up in the duvet and pray for warmth ;-) your post has made me think again as I'm sure a heated blanket would work wonders. I must say that now I have actually got a head cold, my immune system must be running on empty as I'm getting poorly quite easy. Head cold and cold feet, not nice. Oh well I'd better sip some disolvable paracetamol...yuck ;-)

I used to be the one that was never cold, but not anymore. I am the cold one.

My surgery date was 1/09/2013, I've lost 30 lbs. Went from 44-46 waist to about a 38-40.

Oh so I threw up. You will know when you have overdone it. You feel it in your chest. I'm having such and issue with Protein Shakes that I'm eating more food. I have an open hole in my belly that needs to heal. tuna, salmon, real crabmeat, chicken. I guess I ate my salmon too fast the other day and up every thing came. I went back to Soups the next day. I'm not eating crazy amounts. Just a few more ounces.

How fast are you eating? Even though we can only get a few ounces in, it should still take 20 minutes or so for a meal. When I eat fast, I feel it right where you described and if I slow down it subsides pretty quickly.

I slimed for the first time yesterday. I ate my normal Breakfast (3 turkey sausage links) but I was thirsty so I had a gulp of ice tea 15 minutes later. Didn't bode well.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
