I was sleeved on November 8th. I'm doing good, I guess. Still on thin liquids. Jello, Protein shakes (yuck), Water, crystal light, and broth. Today I am hungry! I want to eat a ham and cheese sub. I have no idea why. I am having one of those days where I miss my old lifestyle. I miss eating and watching a good movie on tv! I'm so bored lately! So much of my life was eating. Now I don't know what to do/dont want to do anything. I'm happy with my weight loss. 55 pounds since pre op October 4th. I feel great. Just missing food. It takes me forever to eat Jello even!

I can't wait until it gets better/easier. Thanksgiving is going to suck this year.

I totally get what your saying. I'm trying to stay positive and I'm sure you are too. There's just some days you just wanna cave in and go back to the old ways!! Unfortunately (but really fortunately for us) we can't do this! I'm sad about Thanksgiving too, but next year will be awesome! We will be totally down on what we can stomach and know how to make it right so we can enjoy with the rest. Hang in there! I am very sure many of us feel your pain! :)

I was sleeved Nov 7th and am feeling pretty good. I get tired easily and feel a little weak due to the lack of nutrition. I am switching between soft foods and puréed foods and am tolerating everything pretty well. I have started getting heartburn so just got Prilosec today.

I am feeling great and very positive! I am loving my new life. Went out to Panera bread today with my hubby and son. I got a sample of blackbean Soup and that was enough for me. Even the hubby couldn't believe it.

Today is day 6 for me and I doing good... a little pain... bloating & gas- But over-all I am ok :)

I am a little jealous cuz others can have soup... yogurt etc Lol

For 14 days... 1 can of Protein divided into 4 serving... Water and ice chips :( My Dr is strict :/

On Friday I called and asked if I could have a little broth or decaff tea... and the answer was NO... I just though a little something warm would make my tummy feel good...

This is hard... I am not hungry... its just old habits... Head hunger and boredom :-(

Today I did have 2 baby spoons of sugarfree Jello... but I promise to behave.

Hi all! I was sleeved Monday 11/12, so just about a week ago. I went home from the hospital the next day. I didn't have much nausea or pain, but it took a day or two to get the anesthesia fog out. I didn't use the pain meds (not a fan) but I have taken two doses of Tylenol for soreness those first couple days.

By Thursday, I was back to driving, going to the store, taking the kids to school, son's softball game. I went out Saturday night and felt great.

I'm on a liquid diet for two weeks, then two weeks of puréed, then two weeks of soft food. My liquids include two Protein shakes (30 grams each, 11 ounces each) and lots of Water, tea, Jello, broth. I feel great, and haven't been tempted to stray from the recommended menu.

I'm a little shocked at how smoothly things have gone. I see the doctor Tuesday for a follow up. I was down seven pounds this morning, so I feel like I'm on my way.

Good luck everyone!

I was wondering about the bm issue! I was sleeved Nov 12th too and so far...nothing from that end :( I was hoping it would come naturally so I will give it til Sunday...if not then I will take something.

I've been trying to get Protein in more each day and that def helps with the energy level. I was falling asleep at a drop of the hat!

I had creamed (strained) potato Soup tonight mixed with 1% milk and it was sooo good! I was getting sick of Jello and popcicles! lol

MY REPLY :)

Talk to your Dr... common advice would be if by 6-7 days postop no BM... your bowels need a little help like Milk of Magnesium, etc... ask your Dr. what he/she recommends over-the-counter... Good Luck

I was sleeved on the 12 along with many of you. My surgery went really well. No problems at all. I was starting to be concerned by the no BM situation but it has been resolved. Luckily (or not) I got a flu on Friday with a fever, chill and frequent, and I do mean frequent bathroom trips. Today I am feeling much better and certainly My insides couldn't be cleaner!

I was sleeved on 11/13! The first two days were pretty sucky. I was nauseous and I woke up in a lot of pain in recovery. After I got home- I was ready to go! I went to my daughters last soccer game and it felt amazing to get out of the house. I've been doing great at getting my liquids in however my Protein is a whole other issue.... I'm getting better!!

I was sleeved 11/2. Most of the pianos gone, but eating is a challenge. I have tried the Soups, but my stomach hurts. I am so looking forward to mashed potatoes and egg salad. Has anyone incorporated caffeine yet? I miss my morning coffee!

I was sleeved on 11/14 and have lost 11 lbs since then. I am feeling pretty good, drove to the mall and did some Christmas shopping today. I am not taking any pain meds, just a couple of gas strips during the day. I am having a hard time drinking all the fluids I'm suppose to. Right now I'm doing chicken broth, Protein Shakes, and Water. On Thanksgiving day I get to start my creamy Soups. I have been looking up recipes on pinterst to find which one I want to do first. My left side is still really tender when I laugh, sneeze, cough, or bend over, but besides that I think I am doing really well!

I was sleeved on 11/12 - one week down and I can start full liquids today (cream soups; yogurt; pudding and continue with Protein shakes). Well it was tough today I must say, everything I ate hurt, sometimes I had to hold onto the counter till it passed. I think its gonna take me a couple more days before I can try again. the problem is trying to get in enough protein right now - I can't even keep track of it, but I know it is really low. I see surgeon on Weds. as far as bm's go - it FINALLY happened on Sunday sorry TMI - I just two doses of Miralax and now i can't stop - my lower intestines are rumbling all the time. I was down five lbs today...

I was sleeved on November 16 and I'm doing great. My only complaint is the Protein elixir I had to take 3tx for two days was horrible. I'm glad that's over with.

My left side has been bugging like crazy! I finally had the BM too (with help! lol) and all day I felt good but now that pain is back! Is it the Soup I had? I strained potato soup for lunch. Maybe I'm trying to soon as well? I haven't felt like I had to go at all since this am...I kinda wanna take something daily! Does anyone?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
