I still find myself wanting something that has a crunchy texture with a bit of salt. Too often I work in some crackers. A few weeks ago I had a some potato chips, but I think that craving has passed. My local Kroger grocery has a whole section of dehydrated vegetables, but they have a lot of sodium and are oily/greasy. (Actually, they may be deep fried instead of dehydrated now that I think about it. Not sure.)

So I was thinking that if I could dehydrate some vegetables I could make my own veggie chips with sweet potatoes, squash, zucchini, carrots, beets, etc, and add a touch of salt to satisfy that craving for crunchy, salty. I know that there is a brand of this type of thing you can buy at the grocery, but they are expensive.

Has anyone tried this out and if so how did it work out for you?

Is there an economical, non-commercial dehydrator that does a good enough job?

Fresh market carries a great selection of dried veggies..green Beans are my fave, beets, zucchini, carrot slices and many others. You purchase them by weight. But doing your own sounds like a great idea. You know what's in it for sure then. Hmm, thinking I may try this too. : )

I've never tried them, but a lot of people rave about baked kale chips. Do a Google search and you'll find lots of recipes. Supposedly they have the texture of a Lays potato chip.

Oh yeah...and...I have a home food dehydrator that works like a charm. I'm sure Amazon has lots of them. They're not too expensive, either. I make my own beef Jerky, raisins (with grapes that are about to VP bad), lots of stuff.

I have a dehydrater and I love it. I make all types of veggies and even kale chips, yum!!

Are they bitter? I've had raw kale and it has quite a bite.

No' date=' u have to flavor right and add ingredients u like. For my kale chips I make a tahini and garlic sauce and its great![/quote']

Oh, my wife makes such good kale chips from our growing kale in the backyard. It creates such an explosion of flavor in the mouth. Now I have not had any post-op, but do want to recommend it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
