I'm glad it went well. I was anxious to hear how it went.

What does the 34 mean? Did he not take the 80% off the stomach?

Did he examine you or just answer questions?

Sorry for all the questions I don't see my dr. Till Friday.

Newgrandmother - it was nice to see you today too, we can definitely stay in touch! I was disappointed with my doctor visit, he was behind on appointments and seemed rushed. All he said is that I should be walking 30-45 minutes a day and didn't even give me a chance to tell him I was in too much pain.

I became instantly depressed while I watched my daughter eat KFC but I don't know why. I had mashed potatoes but it didn't taste good and I felt very heavy after.

ready my doc explained to me about the size it seems that the top part of our tummys are very narrow and the food goes there and kind of sticks around before leaving and if you are still swollen yea that can be an issue just eat mushy foods for now.

Hi September sleevers,

I had surgery on the 11 th and am two weeks and one day out. I weighed myself this am and am down 23 pounds. Goodbye 300's forever! When I had surgery I was 321 . I was 345 before starting the preop diet.

Yesterday at two weeks I finally got out of the house and went to the store. I was kinda scared to go by myself, but I just went slow and did ok. I had boughten some children's Vitamins from costco, chewable, but they are like eating sweet tarts..icky. I bought some children's Flintstone gummies and have to chew two everyday. Not bad at all.

I am still trying to get all my Protein in as all if you well know. The Water is going down better now. I am eating very small amts of cottage cheese with flaked tuna mixed in it, pudding, Jello, Soups, retried Beans with cheese, cheese sticks ( chewed well) .

I have several medications that I have to take daily and I hate that one at a time deal as before I could swallow a whole handful at once.

I have not started an exercise program yet. I don't feel ready to push myself that much quite yet. Maybe at week three. I admire the people that are already exercising however.

I am not as emotional as the previous two weeks. I have figured out that this is probably going to work for me and look forward to the weight loss. I was a sugarholic before so am buying all sugar free. I am sure with this sleeve that if you really wanted to you could consume a lot of ice cream....but why defeat the purpose?? I am hoping that my taste buds have changed.

Glad to hear most everyone is doing well. I really enjoy reading all of your posts and the wisdom you have to relay. Congrats all!

well I survived my first shift back at work.. 13 hours of surgical fun (I work in the operating room) LOL I was amazed that at just 12 days out my energy level is same as pre-op.. maybe even better since I'm not putting all the crap (diet coke' date=' fatty foods, sugar) in my body like before <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

I packed 2 Protein Shakes and some Soup and Vitamin Water zero. Have to say it was tough getting all my water in because we obviously aren't allowed any food/drink anywhere in the operating room so everytime I was between surgeries I'd run to the locker room where my vitamin water zero was stashed LOL got in about 70 grams Protein and found out my hospital serves some AWESOME SF frozen yogurt <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

OH! and they give us a new set of scrubs to wear everyday so thank GOD I don't have to buy new ones as I lose weight... but yesterday I went and grabbed my usual size that I was wearing pre op and guess WHAT?! I'm already down a size!!!! wahoooooooo![/quote']

Hey nurse girl, I am also a nurse working 12 shifts in a maternity unit. How far out from surgery were you when you went back to work? I don't see the doctor until week 4 after surgery? Glad you able to get a few swallows of water in now and then. These shifts are grueling. So hard to get proper food and drink in. You are my inspiration.

your nausea first thing in the mornings might be all the acid juices in your empty sleeve.... might try drinking some Water first thing to dilute it....it works for me so well that I have been drinking 8 oz water in middle of night when I get up to pee. It takes me 30-45 min but usually little dog has to go out to pee also.

I'll try that! Thanks for the advice.

And I am a nurse too! I am Day 9 post-op but won't return to work until sometime after Oct 20th. I work in ER. Not sure when I will feel ready to pump on someone's chest (CPR) but I know for darn sure that it is not now. Ha! Yes, I am worried about that first 12 hour shift. Hard to get drinking time. And having to eat every 3 hours will be a joke on those days. Most days (pre-op) I would skip Breakfast and then I am lucky to even get a lunch by 3pm. Not sure how I am going to handle it all now. By then I will be on solids again so hopefully it will be easier. Where do y'all live? I am in Houston.

Just wanted to give y'all my one week post-op visit update. I am Post-Op Day 9 and my weight loss was 16 pounds for this first week. It was weird though because I wasn't all that happy or excited while standing on the scale. I am attributing that to the fact that it is still too fresh in my memory how absolutely miserable and tearful this past week has been. I had to apologize to the staff and told them upon leaving that "hopefully I will be happier in 3 weeks when you see me." Anyway, she was happy with my progress and took my steri strips off..yay! She spent a ton of time with us (close to an hour) and answered all my questions. I am positive that I probably am her most annoying patient. Haha! She told me to relax a bit and that I am overthinking most everything. She told me that my weakness and shakiness-especially in the mornings-is more a dehydration issue than Protein deficiency issue. She told me that I can't become protein deficient in 2 weeks. So she really wants me to concentrate on hydration more for right now. And as for eating and drinking at the same time which I thought was a big no-no, she told me that I need to be more concerned with that when I get to "the real world" meaning I guess after 3 months or so when I am out of main ketosis and healed. She gave me some food tips and corrected several misunderstandings on my part. I felt better about it all after leaving. Now, tonight I can't decide: refried Beans or mashed potatoes. Who would ever thought that a girl could get so excited about a small choice such as this.

Well today hasn't been the best, I have barely ate anything - I did eat breakfast but it probably was considered lunch, I been tired today... Ik I haven't had much Water today, just feel blah today... Ordered pizza for the fam & yes I had a piece minus the crust - just ate a few of the toppings & i do mean very few & yes it tasted great - I haven't @ all lost my taste buds but the stuck feeling I'm experiencing although it was good it was uncomfortable due to that... Hopefully tomorrow will be better... My left side is still bothering me but the heating pad is helping & it seems to hurt just a lil less each day.. Tomorrow I think I will just do Protein Shake & lots of water to make up for today - I did do plenty of walking - probably too much.. Maybe back to liquids & switch up between that & soft foods until I this stuck feeling subsides which I hope is soon b/c it's make'n me not want to eat... Well goin to get a sugar free Popsicle & lay down... Body feels tired... Hope everyone else is doin ok today...

Ready4change77 be careful not to become dehydrated, it can make you very tired and you might not feel thirsty. Take care!

rainhaiter, I had surgery on 9-14-12 and was back at work 9-25-12 with no problem, even doing that 13 hour shift LOL I'm 38 yrs old so I'm not like elderly or anything but I'm old enough that I was worried about if I would be too tired.. I'm back at work again today for my second 13 hour shift back to back and it's 4pm and I admit I'm starting to feel tired LOL I am grateful tomorrow is my day off so I can rest up and drink lots of Water ;)

Nursing IS a very physical job for the most part.. I am lucky I work in a major teaching hospital so there are lots of residents and students around to do any lifting for me. I was getting bored at home so I was looking forward to being back here LOL

On like day 7 post op I went to costco and Home Depot and walked allllllllll over both stores with no problem. It's been super helpful to me to walk wak walk everyday and to get in all 64+ ounces of water and 60 grams Protein Shakes.< /p>

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
