I am doing great! I think I over extended myself the last couple of days so tonight I have a little pain and am pooped!! I was just feeling so good......

Started on creamy Soups, Protein shakes etc.. and now it is a bit harder to get all my Water in. I feel like I am drinking ALL the time!

So happy to step on the scale :)

Mine was done the 7th, I'm down 10 lbs, 30 lbs total with pre op diet. I feel good, I'm dealing with some kind of emotional food missing drama, but overall am getting my fluids in and am excited to meet with the nutritionist tomorrow and hopefully get cleared for sme puréed foods and what not. Congrats everyone! I'm doing fine pain wise, and I'm not hungry, but being around food makes me pretty tempted. Good luck!

I am also doing well. On the "full" liquids for two weeks, can't move on soon enough though because I am kinda over Greek yogurt right about now :) Feel pretty good, even better when the staples come out I'm sure.

I had a lot of pain the first few days. But, I am doing really good. I am feeling little to no pain. I have pretty much returned "normal". And I am somehow able to get in all my Protein and Water. Woohoo! I'm very happy with my decision. :)

I am doing good. I had my post op appt today and he said everything looks good.. I really have nothing to complain about...i have had no heartburn, no nausea, no vomiting and no hunger. I was never in pain..just sore and i stopped taking pain meds on Sunday/Monday. I was cleared to start full liquids today thank god because i was crying last night as nothing i was "eating" was satisfying me anymore. So i added greek yogurt and SF pudding today. I am down 9 lbs and a total of 33 with pre-op. I sometimes feel like i am bragging on here but i guess not everyone has issues ....sorry. I am glad that everyone is doing good though now. :)

Glad you are feeling good. I started the creamy Soups and Protein shakes also. I have to admit that I am having a HARD time getting in all of my Protein. I do NOT like the shakes. I've got a bunch of different brands and samples and each one is hard to get down. Getting all my liquids in has become a full time job! I am however, surprised by how easy I am getting Water in.

Confession - I had a scrambled egg today. I couldn't even finish the whole thing, I ate about 3/4 of ONE scrambled egg and I was DONE! But man did it hit the spot!! And it was nice to chew!

I have to be honest, my first and second day were horrible and to be where I am right now, I feel truly blessed. I feel so good and appreciate every minute I have feeling like this. I know the complications that could have occurred and am just so thankful that I not only got through it but on day 9 am feeling so great.

Thanks for sharing !

I feel great. 3 days in the hospital walked around that nurses desk more than I wanted. Came home and have been getting better and better every day. I just get nervous of how easy it is. I can even cook for my family and not eat. I want to but its not killing me like before with other diets. I made bbq chicken on the grill with potato salad and veggies with salad. I had egg white drop Soup. So far so great. I hope it stays this way. Please let it stay this way.

I will be honest, my first day - the day of surgery - was horrible for me. I had a lot of pain and nausea. I did vomit a lot. I guess I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia. The second day was more of the same and I remember thinking man this sucks. The nausea was the worst, also they don't use pain pumps. They do IV pain med's and the schedule was every 4 hours. Sometimes I would wake up in the middle of the night and they would tell me "oh you have another hour before you can have more pain medicine". That did not go over well with me at all.

Anyhow, again, overall I am very happy. I feel great and am thankful to be in such good shape after going through a major surgery just a few days ago.

Thanks again everyone for sharing !

Planning on getting my excercise in as soon as they release me. You are all amazing and in my prayers for a abundance of success beyond anything you imagined.

I can't lie I had an over easy egg this morning, it was amazingly delicious and I didn't finish. I took my time and chewed slow and was full quickly. It was like the most amazing thing I ever tasted. I am so over shakes already, waters easy, but I miss chewing food!

I thought I was going to die. The nurses were not nice or suportive. My iv pain med was one where I had to push the button "when the light turns green"...but I would be sleeping when the light would turn green...then they'd come in a say I didn't push the button. I couldn't move, and coudn't see the button anyway. They should've just given me the med, period! As I said in my blog posting, they left me for hours witih my but in the hole of a stretcher, and laying completely on my back. I have asthma and my lungs were in dior straits...though I had been working on them...all was lost when they did that. My lungs were partially still collapsed...not good.

I have been coughing junk up like crazy, and my body is using all my might to do it...which is tearing up my guts.

The most calories I have been able to get in are 375, with 22 Proteins...and that's with sipping much of the day...when I don't want to eat anything at all.

The docs took away the large amount (for a sleever) liquid meds, and that made me able to eat the shakes, then....but not much. They also said i could have the greek yogurt, and that helped a lot, but it took me 2 hours to eat one.

I have lost the 14 lbs of Fluid i gained while in the hospital--and some fat poundage (hopefully not lean muscle).

All I can think about is being out of pain, and the shower I managed to get today, with my daughter helping me a lot, made me feel worse. I had been coughing a lot and that weakened me first...but I had to get a shower.

I honestly thought I was going to die, and asked my friend who looked after the twins for me...and my children heard me say it...then they were upset...ALL the nurses fault, if I must say...since they left me to rot in the hall in a stretcher in the basement of the hospital!

So far, the only thing that makes me feel nauseas over and above the nausea meds, is the smell of eaten food on my children's breath...and scented lotions my girl has put on.

One thing that has gone well is that though I had my period for a month straight before the surgery, it stopped in time, and did not come back until now...when I can barely wipe myself a little. My girl had to help me put underwear and a pad on...not what I would want....but at least I had a break from that mess.

I don't get how people can risk everything with eating eggs and having sex now. I wouldn't dream of taking those chances. You all have more guts than me, that's for sure...but I think I had a lot more pain than most...so much pain that i was shaking uncontrollably, and my jaw was chattering like I was in a blizzard...or worse, from the pain. I had to hold it still with my hand. I couldn't stop crying from the pain either, and even now, 6 days later, I still have a tear or two from pain...and I yell out in pain too. I can't help it.

There is only one way to go now...can't get my stomach back...not sure I would want it back. I know I was sorry I got the surgery for at least the 4 days I was in the hospital...not sure how i feel now...except that I want this pain over now.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
