suepeeps got a reaction from PJ_Sleeve in Pre-Op Stomach GrumblingsI found if I drank a protein drink it helped. Today I am clear liquids so nothing much helps at all. I no longer feel as hungry as I did at first.

suepeeps got a reaction from Joisey01 in Funny Yet Sad :)When I first told my family my brother got upset. He thinks it is cheating. (he was drunk) He is very opinionated and of course his way is always the RIGHT way. We argued for a while. He said I really need to research this... REALLY??? did he think I would just one day wake up and say WOW I think I will go sign up for surgery without researching anything??
He wanted me to watch Biggest Loser for 1 season. HA. I told him I wanted him to watch Intervention for 1 season too We finally ended the conversation by me saying I would be more than happy to discuss this with him again sometime when he is sober. He has not brought it up again.
Everyone else in my family is very supportive! I have told most of my friends too and they are also supportive. I am a very positive person and presented it in a very positive way to everyone too.
2 days from now I will be sleeved!!! woohoo . I can't wait

suepeeps reacted to newlifeforlittleME in No Regrets!Just wanted to give everyone an update. I am 35 years old two kids: 3 and 1. I am 5'7. Surgery was July 31st. My starting weight was 306 and after two week liquid diet, I was 289 day of surgery. Today I start my sixth week (exactly 5 weeks post op) and I was 258 this AM. Just got out of a 5 days stall but prior to that I generally watched the scales move about a pound per day. Gee, sure would be nice if that continued...ohhhh, for about the next 130 days , but I'll take what I can get. This weekend was actually my first experience with real food and all I can say is...I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!!!!!!! I have had ZERO problems at all thus far. I have not had a problem with anything yet I just can't eat much...thank God! The thing is, I crave good foods and honestly, fried or greasy foods just no longer appeal to me. I already have tons more energy, look better, feel better, get TONS of compliments and I can say this was the BEST thing I have ever done for myself. For those who have struggled with their weight and are looking for something to help them refocus their eating habits...do it do it do it! I know not everyone has such a simple experience but for me...no problems at all!!! Geez...two c-sections were worse than the sleeve surgery, even on the worst days. Pics to come soon. Good luck to all of you waiting for surgery and those new in the journey as I am. Not a SINGLE SOLITARY regret!!!!!

If not on an iPhone...go to the top right corner of your screen...you will see your screen name with a drop down arrow, click the drop down and go to "My Patient Profile", then go to "My Photos". I just lucked up on that...took me a couple of months on here before I found it...lol

suepeeps reacted to Ms skinniness in Giving Away...You may be able to find some protein recipes on youtube where the protein powders would taste really good. I use my powders to make pancakes, pumpkin banana bread that are really really good.

suepeeps reacted to FatBastard79 in 2 Month Post Op Before And AfterToday is exactly two months post surgery. This morning I was down to 297 from 384. Total of 87 pounds lost so far. Eating nothing but Protein and small portions. Exercising on the elliptical an hour a day and then doing some light weight training and 100 situps a day. Best decision I ever made. Wish I would have done this 10
Yrs ago!

suepeeps reacted to susanfaye in Liver Shrinkage When Losing Weight? My preop diet was 14 days clear liquids. I did eat solids occasionally when I felt like I was going to hit the deck, but not at all in the last three days. I lost 16 lbs. My surgeon was very pleased, although I never mentioned the solids to him. I did choose high protein, low fat, low carb choices.

suepeeps reacted to Applebtmgrl77 in Noisy BellyMine too!! Try being in a meeting at work everyone waiting for you to talk and the only one saying anything is my sleeved stomach. What is that all about? I have been hoping it will go away soon almost three months out. Very humbling experience. I went from the fat girl to the gas girl.....Who says God doesnt have a sense of humour?

suepeeps reacted to Joisey01 in Pre Op Day 6I start pre-op liquid diet on Thursday 6th. I cannot wait. I do believe a positive attitude is the most important thing. It's only 2 weeks!

suepeeps got a reaction from Joisey01 in Pre Op Day 6I am on day 6 of my liquid diet. Tonight my husband heated up something that smelled great and it didn't even bother me! I had some Jello while he ate his dinner. While I still miss the chewing, I am not craving other foods. I almost feel like they might upset my stomach at this point.
I just thought I would share this for those of you starting the pre op diet. I just keep a positive attitude every day and love watching the scale drop down. Getting a jump start on losing before the surgery has been great!!!
Good luck to everyone on their pre op:)

Binging for me is a horribly scary, out of control feeling. It was before the sleeve and is more so now. I have binged twice - each time with chips. I liken my reaction to one bite of potato chips and onion dip to Gollum and the Ring. I can see how I might eat around it and go right back to where I started from: A 5'1" woman on her way to 300 pounds and DEATH!
I hate to get all serious on you guys, but I think I was close to death. I couldn't breathe, couldn't sleep and I was starting to feel sick ALL the time. I could not stay awake driving or at work. food wasn't even enjoyable, but I'd still stuff my face. I became a recluse. I would send my husband to get-togethers alone. I would hardly go camping anymore or even for a walk.
I don't know what would have failed first: My marriage or me.
I became diabetic. I had sleep apnea so badly that I literally woke up once every 10 seconds. Doesn't sound possible does it? My doctor was checking for cirrhosis of the liver due to fatty liver disease. My knees were giving out. My blood pressure was through the roof as was my cholesterol.
Well, I got sleeved and withing two weeks my blood sugar was normal. Three months and 58 pounds down my A1C (anther glucose level test) was normal as was everything else including my blood pressure. My sleep apnea disappeared.
Here I am 7 months later. I am 30 pounds from goal. I wear a bathing suit. I hike up mountains and paddle my kayak. I ride my friends horse without killing it. I slide effortlessly into any booth or amusement park ride.
Next year I'm hiking half-dome and around Tuolumne Meadows and the Yosemite Valley, I am going on a raft trip down the Colorado River, I'm taking a mule down to Phantom Ranch (if I can get a reservation that is!) I might even go to Maui this November.
My husband and I are doing wonderfully and will renew our vows in October. I am now two sizes smaller than my wedding dress.
Why would I sacrifice all that for a slab of macaroni and cheese or cake or chips? With me, there is just no control with some things. If I cannot make or find a good substitute then I don't touch it.
Before I got sleeved, I found a website called: The World According to Eggface.
She is my height and was over 300 pounds. Today she is a total knockout. Get her recipes. She taught me that I didn't have to deprive myself. She showed me that I could make healthier versions of pizza, lasagna and snack foods - even doughnuts and ice cream. She can also make a Protein shake that tastes like it came from Starbucks- but with more flavors.
I just thought I'd post my feeling about moderation vs. abstinence from certain foods. This is what works for me. Thank goodness I love meat, seafood, cheese, dairy, vegetables, legumes, fruits and nuts because those are the mainstays of my diet. I'm far from suffering. I had a taste of my daughter's ice cream and cake and the sugar made me sick in a minute.
Again, this is what works for me. I'm not trading all I have now for food. No way!
Thanks for reading and God Bless your journey.

suepeeps reacted to upwardfocusedgirl in What Is Your Favorite? What is your favorite thing about your weight loss so far? Aside from the health benefits of course. My favorite thing is something I hadn't thought of until it happened: I can wrap a towel completely around myself! I can knot it up and it stays put and everything. It's actually pretty great!

suepeeps reacted to kmwheel in 7 Months Out With PicsYou look so cool...I love the shirt. I can't wait to be able to wear stuff like that without feeling like a sausage. Don't think of it as bragging, think of it as inspiration to those of us who are waiting. I LOVE to see pictures!

suepeeps reacted to keldolbeth in Disappointed And Excited At The Same TimeI'm a teacher and today was the first day of school. My goal was to be down 100 pounds total by the first day. WELLLLL, I have been stalled at 98 for over two weeks!!! I've been frustrated as hell! I know it's normal but that doesn't mean it's not disappointing. I know I haven't been working out as much as I should but I've been doing great with my meals. I'm kinda obsessed with MFP now when I was so resistant to the idea at first.
Anywho, I got all jazzed up for the first day today... I wish I would have gotten a full body pic but I live alone and felt weird asking a coworker. However, I do have pictures from today and from the first day of school last year. THIS is why I'm excited! The difference just from the chest up is pretty damn awesome. And the first pic isn't even at my highest weight. I gained about 15 pounds after this, when I hurt my knee and quit working out.
Take a look... I'm not fully "out" to everyone so I didn't want to post this on Facebook or anywhere else but I feel like I'm needing some positivity right now. Love my VST'ers!

suepeeps reacted to CaliKat in Who Knew A 5K Could Be Easy!A bit of inspiration and a bit of brag....
5 months ago I tried to run a mile at the gym... wasnt happening. I quit at 1/4 mile cause I was so out of breath and frankly... just couldnt do it. A month later, I managed to run a mile, but it took me 17 minutes! Fast forward a few months and I am running a 5K three times a week at the gym in under 40 minutes and still have the energy to do a bit of weight training afterwards.
WHO KNEW A 5K COULD BE EASY! Ive been running the local 5K charity races and now the hardest part is not the running... its getting up for the 8am start time!
The take-away to this is each step you take, each minute you run, each mile you walk you move towards a healthier lifestyle and better quality of life. No matter what your fitness level is today- someday (sooner than you think) you can be crossing that finish line feeling like a Olympic champion!

Suepeeps, I agree with you! Hearing someone who sees patients everyday endorse one procedure over another would speak volumes to me, too. I'm going to ask my surgeon my tried and true question: "If I were your daughter getting weight loss surgery, which would you want her to choose...."

suepeeps got a reaction from kflan in Sleeve Or Lap Band? How Do I Decide Which Is Best For Me?I debated between the band and sleeve too. Many of the reasons I decided on the sleeve have already been listed here but one of the huge reasons was that I talked to the nurse during one of my appts. She was pregnant and going to have surgery after the baby was born. I asked if she minded telling me which one she was doing and she said "hands down the sleeve". Another nurse there also said the same thing. She had the RNY 15 years ago and if she were to do it now she would do the sleeve. They work with patients every day with all 3 types of surgery and those words spoke volumes to me!

suepeeps reacted to ShouldBlittler in I Love…I love looking at people's before and after photos for two reasons:
1. It is amazing to me to see the confidence difference in people from their before to their after picture. All of a sudden, people are wearing jewelry, they have on trendy clothes and big smiles. You can just see that their entire demeanor has changed. This is the main reason why I like to look at the before-and-after pictures.
2. This one is weird. I like looking at the backgrounds of people's pictures. I feel like I can get a general sense of who people are by looking at what's in the background of their pictures. It cracks me up how many people have crazy things in the backgrounds of their pictures, as they were posing for the camera.
Just saying...

suepeeps reacted to Ijam75 in Never Trust A Fart!I only had that problem one time after taking some miralax (sp?). I hadn't taken care of my business in a few to many days, so I mixed the recommended dose in some Water per my doc. I spent the next 24 hrs with a gurgling gut but no progress...
The next morning I got off the couch and did the manly celebration of a good fart aka lift leg high and aim it... oops it wasn't just a fart...
Did I mention we don't wear clothes in our house?
Thank god for hardwood floors...
