caffeine..is an appetite suppressant.....and since we can't eat very much but have to eat the proper stuff...it can have an impact on your eating......like 60 grams Protein .......and slow down weight loss.....I have to give up tea....i read of one girl who wished she had stopped drinking it before she had to go on her Protein Drink diet...she said it was hard to deal with the Fluid but also she was in with drawl from the tea...coffee would be the same.......hope this helps a little

NUT said you can have it again eventually but it's a diuretic and is hard on a new stomach. Hydration is a challenge at 1st and your stomach is pissed off enough, I guess!

I cut out sodas completely during my 3 mth classes needed for ins. I wanted to eat everything in sight because I had/ have the mentality that I would maybe not ever enjoy food the way I did prior to my pre-op diet & surgery. I even had my hubby bring me hm Thai food @ 10pm the night before my pre-op started. I admit I'm glad I got out all my cravings. I am proud to say I am on day 6 of the pre-op diet of liquids only & not even once have I cheated!!!! I have 8 more days & I can & will do this:-)

I started having these food funerals. Everything and everything I could think of for about 2 months. I gained eight pounds and got very sick to my stomach 3 times. Monday I started my pre-pre-op diet of my own concoction. Pure Protein shake for Breakfast, pure Protein Shake for lunch. Mid afternoon boild shrimp and meat and veggie for dinner. Also started working out. Elyptical for 25 min yesterday, and full out gym for an hour today.. Two days down...heading towards a better life. Approved insurance today, should have my surgery date tomorrow!!

I'm struggling with my eating today. :( I've made good choices (so far) but I'm STARVING. Not sure what's up, but I've felt hungry ALL day even though I've tried hard to keep something on my stomach.

These are the days when I'd normally (secretly) drive through some fast food joint on my way home and have a "pre-dinner snack" to eat in my car. I'm fighting against that today.

More Water, more Water, more water...

I have a really good NUT. Granted, she's a bit ditzy, but she knows her stuff. My FIRST appointment I was going on about how much I'd miss my fav foods. She really explained things well to me. She said that the sleeve isn't a tool that you can only eat certain things. My fav is Pasta alfredo and she guaranteed me that when I hit maintance, I CAN have it. She said even now while I'm losing I can have a bite or two once in awhile. She doesn't agree with any foods being 'bad' foods. Keeping that in mind, she coaches me once a month and I went to a therapist for awhile to work on my food issues. I am now very secure in knowing that my sleeve and my brain will be able to stop me from overeating & overindulging.

All the pre-op counseling was a pain, but i can honestly say that even at just 4 weeks postop, I think it made things easier for me. I never felt that food abandoned me or that i needed a food funeral.

Please keep in mind that this is MY experience. We are all different.

I too have been a cheater lately! I'm off my Pre-pre-op diet today (lost 12 lbs. - what my surgeon wanted me to lose-so that's good). tomorrow I start 3 Protein Shakes and 1 lean n green , 2 fruits. I really miss carbs and coffee! Now I can't even have green tea! (who knew!) until surgery 10/11/12. 7 days before I go on liquid diet. I can do this! Thanks to all you sleevers out there who post information vital to our success. (Did I say I miss my coffee! ;)

I'm pre-sleeve; just trying desperately to change in anticipation of surgery. I've been doing well, but today is extra tough for some reason. food is all I can't think about and I've stayed hungry all.day.long. BOO. :(

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
