I guess my point is , we all chose to have this done for a reason that was important to us and when we start to get anxious we just have to remember what those reasons are :)

That's exactly what I did. I finished all the pre-op requirements, got approval, and by that time I had my answer. I turned 37 today, I'm nurse too, actually a NP, with diabetes and HTN. I know I have probably 25 more years working, and I didn't think I'd make it there with co-morbidities. It's a hard decision, but I think it reaps many rewards.

I'm scheduled for surgery 10/15 and I'm so confused every day I start out excited and then by evening I change my mind! I live with my boyfriend and I'm not sure if I'm going to even let him know that I am having surgery because he has a hard time lying to people so I know that he would just give it away if someone asked him. So im not going to give him that burden. Not that I'm ashamed I just don't think it's anyone else's business. I'm 29yo nurse and student from NJ.

How are you planning on hiding the surgery from your boyfriend, esp. since you live together?

I've had horrible bouts of nausea, too. I had advanced to full liquids, then had to go back to Clear Liquids. I know everyone's road is not easy, but it is surgery. It will take some time to feel better. Are you staying hydrated? Dehydration can make you feel worse. My last episode of nausea and vomiting was actually brought on by dehydration. Take care of yourself, and don't rush it. Did you have any co-morbidities? If so, think about what your life will be like after you've recovered. No more meds!!!!

I am scheduled for 12-4 and am in NJ also. I fo get nervous about it sometimes but I have had surgery before and always tolerated it well. I just no that the comorbidities are stacking up, and I want to lose the weight and improve my life. It is nerve racking at times, but I know I can do it and I can still remember the way skinnier me and all that I did and I want it back!!!

I had my surgery on Aug. 27th. So glad the stress of that is behind me. What helped me decide was that if I didn't lose wt. I was going to have changes in my life - like all the complications from Diabetes- don't fool yourself this will practically kill you - I'm a nurse and all nurses fear diabetes as we have seen how it destroys the body. So I decided that I would rather undergo changes now to my lifestyle and take the risk of surgery - which I felt was small for a huge benefit in a short time. Looking better and doing all the things with my family that I couldn't being obese seals the deal. Its normal to question a big decision just make sure you really understand the risks of staying obese and be realistic if you can lose wt on your own and keep it off. I am finaly feeling so good -its been 2 weeks almost post-op- and as I am so excited for my future. I have no regrets. Find a very experienced surgeon and find a bariatric center of excellence - that is important. Good luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
