I have a ton of hair and I've always lost a ton of hair. It comes out in the shower, probably about 50 strands a day, and then of course every time I brush it, etc. I haven't noticed a difference w/ the surgery

No loss for me. Banded 7-19-06. Should I worry? lol

lol I was banded 7/28/06 I have no hair loss yet but im worried!! That why I did this poll. So far everyone agrees on 3 things. Protien, Biotin, Nioxin. Biotin is a Vitamin supplement and from what I've read in posts you're suppost to take at least 1000 mcg per day. Nioxin is a shampoo/conditioner/follicle treatment that helps clean away a hormone that causes Hair loss. I've been pretty diligent with all 3. I REALLY don't want to lose my hair. I mean I know its just hair but I have hair down to my mid back.. it would really bum me out to lose it and it would take years to grow it back.

I was so glad to see this thread! I have been losing hair like crazy and have been pretty worried about it. I lose enough to block the drain several times over each time I wash my hair. It continues to come out through out the day. I have heard weight loss and a lack of enough Protein contributes to the loss, but I am grateful to read that others have had theirs grow back.:puke:

A lot of people lose hair from the anesthesia -- I'm not banded yet, but I just started taking silicea (homeopathic version of silica) to help firm up my nails... it helps anything Protein based grow stronger and quicker (hair and nails.) It takes about 3 weeks to start working, so don't get discouraged if you start taking it and it doesn't work right away.

Thank you for the info about Biotin and Nioxin. I will purchase both. KariK, I appreciate the sharing of your knowledge. This forum provides so much help to me.

Aww your very welcome Mary Luke. I agree this forum really is wonderful, I don't know what I would do without it!

I picked "none of the above" because I had maybe a 10% loss a couple of months post-surgery, not enough for anyone else to notice. And it grew back completely. I had the same experience after giving birth and after my endoscopy.

Dear Christy,

When using the silicea, do you have to quit coffee, mint, etc? A friend fo mine who is a homeopathic die-hard says homeopatic remedies won't work if drinking things with caffeine or mint. Thank you for the info!

I have not had my surgery yet, however, I have fine hair and a few months ago, my hair dresser gave me Nioxin to try. I noticed that my hair is stronger at the shaft. When I told her that I was having the surgery, she advised me to continue the products. It may help!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
