I must admit I am torn between the sociological "reality" that women's bodies (more so than men's) are "public", on display and open to comment and criticism, ( & therefore we have a "duty" to change perceptions for the better) and the ideal that what we do is our own private choice and stuff what everyone else may think...

Has anyone changed a negative persons mind by telling them your experience?! Do you feel deep down its your own choice to share or not, or do you think you only keep it secret because of others perceptions, that they invalidate your success by "blaming" it on the surgery?

P.s I'm a future sleever, I know it's our success, I'm just really curious and playing devils advocate a bit! I am truly a feminist and to see where I'm coming from read "fat is a Feminist issue" by Susie Orbach

The only person that knows is my husband. I don't really have "friends" that would understand and frankly might be jealous. So I will deal with the jealousy once the weight comes off. I have one "friend" that has started trying to lose weight because she knows I am going to the gym and don't eat like I used to...so now she wants to mimic me. I say more power to you! My hubby is my best friend and "real friend" so as of now he is the only one who knows.. :D

My husband has been very supportive thru the whole "pre op" ordeal. I get sleeved on Sept 18. 2012. I have told a few people, not family yet, I waited for a "date" then I'll decide who knows what. My sister is very critical and a argumentive know it all so she may have to be uninformed. Several friends and acquaintances at work have had some type of WLS so there is my live support go to.

I must admit I was a bit of an argumentative know it all about my sisters breast implants, I don't really understand how small breasts can be classified under Medicare as a "deformity"...

But I hope she knows I still live her and know its done I just help her through good times and bad, some people are jealous, others perve, others simply don't seem to care (which surprised me) but overall she still keeps it on the down low...

Although how you keep a A-DD transformation discreet I'll never know!!! Lol!!!

I've told everyone. Friends, family and co workers. I have no shame in what I've done. I stand tall and proud that I have taken this step to make my life better.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
