Post Surgery Weight Loss Results

Recommended Posts

Hello All!

I would like to know if anyone knows the answer to this question?

Do people with a higher BMI or more excess weight to lose, lose weight at a faster rate than someone who has a lower BMI or less excess weight to lose? Just want to know what observations people have made.

Thanks!

Typically, yes in the beginning. Also, men in average lose quicker than women.

i think i would disagree . sorry. i started with a high bmi well still am but since surgery i have lost 30 pounds that was 3 months ago. So in my case no i am not loosing faster, And i have a freind who bmi was lower than mine alot and lost 50 the first 3 months. I think it just varies from person to person. only one fact is correct and thats it the weight will come off some faster than other.

Typically higher BMI/Weight lose faster till the BMI hits around 40 then it levels out and the loss is slower, this is what my surgoen states, but also everyones body/chemistry is different so this will not reflect everyone.

Very high bmi has shown that in super morbid people will drop weight fast. I went on a liqiud diet (day 4 so far) and am averaging 5 lbs a day.

Your experience with weight loss is is exactly why I said "typically". Well, that and the fact that other factors can influence it too. I hope your weight loss picks up for you. However, if it doesn't, you will still get there! Best of luck to you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
