Finished Nut Class, Now Hubby Having Second Thoughts =(

Recommended Posts

Finished my options classes today!!! My referral to the surgeon is on its way. They said I should hear from them in 1-2 weeks =)

Now that I am so close, my husband is finding ways that he doesn’t think that we will be able to afford my copay, which is only going to be $400 per day in the hospital. I do understand where he is coming from, but to me even if it were triple that amount, I want the surgery for my health. I don’t think that I can lose all this weight on my own. When I plateau, I get frustrated and give up. It is so easy for me to go back into old eating habits.

I have talked to the financial services department at my hospital, and they said they would like half down, and make payments on the rest over six months. I find that so doable. I have to have my husband on board for this. If it came down to it, I know that someone in my family would loan/give me the money for it because they have wanted me to do this for a long time. I just can’t bring myself to ask her.

The husband wants me to change jobs where I will be making more money. I have looked, interviewed, done follow-up with the managers. They never hire me. I am convinced it is because of my weight. My job that I have now pays for my insurance, at no cost to me. This is the reason that I keep this job. I really don’t want to change jobs until after surgery.

That to me would be so worth it. Most people only stay one night in the hospital and if they only need half down then u just need 200 dollars. Can't beat that.

I have told him that over and over again. I honestly think he is just scared. I plan on completing any steps that the surgeon wants me to complete, with or without his support. I said at the beginning of this journey that this is the time for me.

Statistically, obese people earn less throughout their lifetime than normal weight people. We pay more for food, clothing, life insurance, health care, and transportation. Being big costs way more than your copay.

Honestly, I think it's your husband's own insecurity that is making him do that. He's afraid you're going to get skinny and so hot that someone is going to take you away from him. He may not admit it, but it might be true. Just try to reassure him about it.

If it's not worth it to your husband, or if he is less than supportive, it is important that you explain to him, before surgery, that you are going on a journey and you woud like him to go with you. If he is not ready, tell him you are leaving on that journey, and he can either catch up, or consider his options. I think it is always important to support your spouse and their feelings, but to also make a clear statement of your intent. Later this may be a valuable thing to have done..... {:>} rd

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
