Nurse for 22+ years. I am scheduled for July 25th and am getting kinda nervous.

I think if you weren't nervous, you would be unrealistic. I'll be rooting for you. Good luck!

Hey Everyone,

I am an RN in Ortho/Neuro Case Management. Started nursing career in 1999.

After years of yoyo dieting, I am ready for permanent change. Just about ready to submit to insurance.

Will have surgery in the hospital I work for. That is a bit uncomfortable for me. Hopefully, will be well taken care of. Worked for my hospital since 1997.

Married 20+ years, have three kids.

Love the ppl and support here.

I'm an RN, and now Family nurse practitioner as of April, I was sleeved August 30, 2011 and could not be happier! I started at 269 and now weigh 174. It was the best decision I ever made, even though it was a tough initial decision working in health care! I am 28 years old and haven't started a family yet but now we are nearly ready!

Congratulations on your new FNP role. How was it transitioning from nurse to Provider? I am scheduled to graduate on December 14. I have completed all my classes, I just have one clinical semester to complete this fall. As the day get's closer, I can hardly believe I have made it and I'm getting increasingly nervous about having to take on a new role. After working in the clinic all day, I ask myself "Do I really want to do this?" It's so much responsibility. I can tell you I was always the inpatient patient watching the clock in the waiting room. I now have a new found respect for the doctors, lol. I am waiting to get sleeved and have not etched a date in stone. I have to first wait to see how my clinical rotation will be scheduled and how I will be able to juggle it with work. I do think that this surgery will help in all areas. It's so hard to be on your feet all day seeing patients when you're overweight and shortwinded yourself!

Hi, I went back to work on the 10th day. But since I had a hernia repair as well I was put on a weight restriction. There is no way u can do all that work, the bathing, repositioning and dealing with disoriented pts..after surgery u get tired real fast n with nursing u dont have time to drink like u should...If u have only 2weeks..ask the dr if he can put u on light duty for a couple of weeks? That's what I suggest... good luck!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
