Most Humiliating Fat Moment

Years ago..my ex grandmother in law (who was really mean to me) bought me 2 pair of underwear for Christmas,,she's dead now. They looked really small so in front of everyone she held them up and said "yall think these will fit Karen? Yeah they'll fit,,see??" Then she stretched them beyond recognition to show everyone that my fat butt would fit those bloomers. Besides the fact she did this in front of 75 family members..some of my ex's cousins were kids my age that I went to school with. I was humiliated and it affected me for years. It probably wouldn't have bothered me so much now but back then I was so insecure and self consious about my weight..it was so embarrassing. I could see others were embarrassed for me and even commented to me about how bad they felt for me,,which made me feel worse. I just wanted it to be over and bury my head somewhere. I wanted to post this so I can get over it..anyone else have a really sucky moment?

  • You know, I have to pity people who would do such an act. Their lives are so miserable they must do some act like that to try to elevate themselves. I am happy that you were able to confront this mo

I have a lifetime of stories that remind that the one thing more mortifying then feeling invisible because you are fat is feeling like everyone is laughing at you--because you're fat. I started writi

  • I have 2 fat stories: I was on a group church trip. That's right I said church. We were in the hotel playing Taboo and one lady pointed to me for the team to guess the word. The word was "overeating"!

My daughter once pointed out that I have "back boobs!"

What I think would be the most humliaiting thing' date=' we're blessedly unconscious for -- our fat pre-op bodies being naked & hefted by others onto the operating table. I don't even want to think about how many people it took to move me in 2006 when I had my lapband (that was my heighest weight ever - 380 - 400 lbs).[/quote']

Aaack!! I didn't even think about this! That is now my most humiliating moment...thank goodness I was asleep.

Well' date=' the conception is that you can't DO anything about race and gender, so you have to accept people for what they are. Ditto with physical handicaps, birth defects, mental issues, etc. 35 years ago autistic kids were sent off to group homes, now they have parades for them!

Society is just starting to accept that sexual orientation may just not be someone's choice, so yeah -- we are starting to accept gay people now too.

But fatties? Sure it may be a genetic tendency but calories in < calories out. It's not rocket science. Get off the couch! Stop going to McD!! It's OK to bug us because we're doing it to ourselves.[/quote']

Did I read this right? And for the record, i have a mentally ill autistic child, no parades, just a lot of suffering. Who are you?

Try reading it with the voice of extreme sarcasm.

I always wondered how I would handle having a special needs kid. My cousin's boy is autistic and I'm not sure I could step up like she did/does. She's amazing.

I have several stories

My mother cooks a lot for her church so when I was twelve during her pastor's appreciation dinner, a elderly man told me how I should stop eating all together, I cried in my mother's car and refused to go back in to the church.

When I was 14 I was over my Dad's house for Christmas, when my Grandpa told my family loudly how I need to step back from the dinner table once in a while.

In Catholic school I was bullied for being fat, but the ringleader was bigger then me and would usually "you're as big as a desk and next year you will be as big as two". She would always try and get me into trouble at school, eventually I got expelled form the school and blamed for something I didn't do.

I broke a desk in middle school and everyone laughed including the teacher.

Looking back on my Catholic School experience I relished that she was also hurting and she took that pain out on someone weaker.

Wow. I can see someone actually saying that crap. Glad it was sarcasm

It is not that people are "bugging us". They are outright hateful and mean. There is no excuse to treat others that way.

when i was in middle school basket ball they always picked me for skins on shirts and skins. they would make comments like get him over here and milk him rerfering to my boy boobs.

Yesterday, I was eating an ice cream cone while driving home, and a group of youn adults drove by. They took on look at me, started laughing, and pressed on their noses like a pig making Oinking sounds. I felt so sad, humiliated. I didn't show that it bothered me, but I cried on the wy home. I cannot wait to get this surgery so this doesn't happen anymore.

I really only feel bad when I see people from high school. I was really athletic, a former cheerleader, on the drill team, etc. anything that involved a cute smile and a short skirt, I did it. Now, I avoid going out in public when I go back to my home town. If I see someone, I try to hide, or I'm constantly looking over my shoulder. Pathetic, I know. Three years ago, we had a class reunion and I lost 111 pounds just to go to it. I still wasn't the size that I was in high school, but neither was anyone else. Needless to say, I gained that 111 + 10 more, before going to see a bariatric surgeon. I just can't do it on my own.

I think that was the point, that is how other people who are mean to fat people think. They think that WLS is for lazy fatties. :(

Mine was a few a years ago, I went to Home Depot to buy paint. It was a light yellow color and it was called something cotton candy (cant remember the exact name) and the lady mixing my paint said "Congratulations!!!! When are you do?". She assume that paint was for a nursery or something SMH! My husband who at that time was only my boyfriend was there with me and I was soo embarrased. I told her "nop, im just FAT". That lady wanted to die right then and there...I could tell.

I was trying on clothes in a store one day with my mom, she was talking to the girl who worked there and when I asked for help finding a size she asked how far along I was. I was 12 at the time :/

My most humiliating moment. Keep in mind that I am easy Indian but born in Canada. I love my culture and all but Indian people upon people with weight issues and have no issue talking about it. So here goes:

I was at an Indian clothing store helping my boyfriend pick out an outfit for an up coming wedding. When the lady at the store asked him what size he was and he told her' date=' she brought out that size. However, that outfit was too tight on him. He hadn't gained any weight, I'm sure they just had the wrong size on the label. He made a sweet comment to the sales lady "I guess I may have packed on a few pounds..my gf is such a great cook". The sales lady answered "well she must be trying to get you to look like her so she won't look so fat standing next to you like she does now". I was speechless. My boyfriend saw the look on my face and said lets go. We were planning on going shopping and then going out to my fave restaurant to have dinner but who wants to eat after hearin a comment like that?

The whole drive home I wiped my years silently. He knew I was so upset and tried to convince me to go home, freshen up and go out with him. Instead I went home, layed in my bed and cried myself to sleep while he held me. So embarrassing.[/quote']

I am half Asian and our people are this blunt about weight issues as well...My mother is 1/2 Filipino and 1/2 Chinese. She has said to me on numerous occasions " you are so pretty but you need to lose weight". She has said " Your husband won't love you if you gain anymore weight" She gave backhanded compliments like "You are the pretty one but your sister looks better than you right now because she is skinny" She also gives me diet tips though she herself eats like a horse. Those are just things I experienced with my own mother....

The thing that embarassed me most in public was in Junior Highschool. I was chubby and I had very large breasts I was 12 and was already a D there was this boy named Leonard who would harass me at school. Leonard gave me a nickname it was Big Momma Breastasuz and he would yell really loud in front of everyone every time he would see me. He would follow behind me when I walked home and yell it. One time he saw me at the Mall and was way down by the food court and I was down the hall and he yelled "Hey Big Momma "I finally just found ways to avoid him at all costs. That was almost 20 years ago and to this day I would not waste my spit on Leonnard even if he was on fire .
