August Sleevers it's check in time....

Sleeve date: 8/28 Sleeve weight: Pre-op 282, Day of surgery 271 Total weight loss: 81 pounds What you are eating/drinking/how much /how often: 65-75 protein/45oz water. I think my weight loss has slowed down because of my low water intake, I'm trying to do better. I normally eat 5-6 small meals per day. What do you feel emotionally/physically: I honestly don't know how I feel. Some days I feel sad because I'm an emotional eater, and I haven't figured out a way to deal with the emotions. Physically, I still suffer from being very tired, so I don't know if it's because of working two jobs or lack of nutritional support. Amy problems/changes/misc: I had a really rough patch from Thanksgiving till the beginning of Jan. where I ate horrible stuff like chips, cookies, and ice cream every couple of days. I managed to get back on track but it cost me a lot of lost time, I feel like I could have lost 15 more pounds during that time. Also, I stopped exercising because I'm always so tired. I promised myself that I would make it my goal for Feb. to start out at 3x a week again. How is everyone else doing?
  2. I'm curious about how much exercising majority of the sleevers are doing. Chime in on what type of exercise, how many days, and how long. What's working best for YOU?

    august sleevers where are you?

    Sleeved 8/28-down 75 pounds
  4. I've gained 3 pounds in the last 2 weeks. I knew that I was making horrible choices, and still couldn't stop myself. I'm fixing (I'm from Texas) my lunch for today, and in goes 2 shakes, and a high protein yogurt. I'm getting back on track to lose 15 pounds by Valentine's Day.

    Eating out?

I eat the same thing everyday, just to keep the guesswork out of it. Breakfast: Protein shake Snack: Edamame Lunch: Brookstone cottage cheese & avocado Snack: Dannon Light & Fit 2x Protein yogurt Dinner: protein and a veggie Eating these foods just keeps it easy for me. I put a cooling pouch and pack a lunch kit, and eat in my car as I round on patients. By dinner, I've already eaten 60 grams of protein. I admit I've struggled a lot during the holidays, though. Good Luck!

    Pathetic

I think it's all stress and food related. Either we're post-op and can't drown the stress with food (me) or we're pre-op and have even more issues than the post-op folks (fear of surgery, cost of surgery, will it work), etc. I recommend anyone having any of these issues to just take a week off from VST and enjoy the holidays. If you mess up on your diet, it's okay, just get back on. No one will die from eating a cookie, but you won't feel so good after eating 10, so don't do it. Happy Holidays everybody!

    Daily food intake

I'm 14 weeks out, and my goal is 900 calories a day. I hardly ever reach 900, if I'm eating the right things. My surgeon told me to stay under 40 grams of carbs per day, and get at least 65 grams of protein. Here's what my usual day looks like: Breakfast:Premier Protein shake 30g Snack: Edamame 1/2 cup-8g Lunch: Fit/Light 2x protein Greek Yogurt-12g Snack: 1 large boiled egg w/ 1/2 the yolk-7g Dinner: Beans or meat, & a veggie-10-20g Water: 3 bottles (not enough, but I try) I find that I don't have lulls in energy if I eat every 3-4 hours. I mess up at least once a week, but I get right back on.
  9. Lol, at the water. I remember going to a hypnotist about 20 years ago to help me lose weight. I paid 100 bucks to hear him say what you said. Thank God for my sleeve.

Any ovarian cysts out there? :-/

I had to have unexpected surgery to remove cuts from both of my ovaries a month and a half before my sleeve. I had one the size of a football, and the other was the size of a softball. The pain was so bad, I had problems walking. All I could think about was that having surgery to remove them would delay my sleeve surgery. Thank God, it didn't, but it sucked because I had to use 3 weeks PTO to recover from that surgery that was saved up purposely for the sleeve.

    5 Confessions (Join In)

Best thread ever...I don't know how I missed it. I confess: 1. I'm losing control in every area of my life except for this diet. It used to be strict control on everything, except my diet. I've spent over 6,000 of my savings in the last few months, and I don't even remember on what. I've always been a die hard saver. 2. I'm over 3 months out and I still don't sleep through the night. 3. I lied to my surgeon about how many calories I'm eating when he told me I was losing too fast. 4. I've started drinking a skinny vanilla latte from Starbuck's twice a week, when I've always ridiculed people who pay 5 bucks for a coffee. 5. I need to be sitting on a therapist's couch, but I don't want to admit that I'm not normal after this surgery.

    Sleeved Two Days Ago And.....

Yes, especially if you're going too fast. Try taking a sip, then hold the Fluid in your mouth, as you slowly swallow small amounts until it's all gone. That's what worked for me. Also, warm liquids went down better. Good Luck!

    My Fit Foods

I've tried their food. It's fresh foods, nuts, and tasty dishes. Some of the dishes were a little bland, but it was an easy fix. I did it pre-surgery, so I was never full after their meals or snacks, but if you're post-op, you'll probably have enough for two meals, which will offset the cost. I don't have any complaints other than cost, and the inconvenience of not having a center close to home.

    August Sleevers..what Is The Progress

Sleeved 8/28 Highest weight 8/14 -282 Current weight -233 I have a lot of energy most days, but never every day. I haven't figured out a way to have consistent, sustained energy. I do a low carb diet (20-30 grams most days, but have gotten as high as 60-80 grams when I mess up:( . It's a journey, and I'm glad I did it.
