  1. Most every cancer survivor that I know is proud of recovering from cancer. You would have to understand being told you have cancer, and being unsure about everything in your life, before deciding on who you reach out to for support. Just as we reach out to other overweight/obese people on this site, cancer survivors do the same, but the difference is that we got ourselves here. You can't blame cancer on eating too much or eating the wrong things. All it takes is for someone to look at us, and our diagnosis is plastered all over our body. I commend the poster for telling others her story of survival, it's truly remarkable to hear of people surviving cancer.
  2. I had the same problem after having my gallbladder removed. It was just like clock work, I had to go 20 minutes after eating. It finally stopped after 3 years.
  3. Wow! That's amazing results. Are you exercising too, or is tha totally from the sleeve? Amazing job.
  4. Did anyone sleep last night? I got about 45 minutes, after a horrible shaving debacle.
  5. Hey there, sleeve sister. I'm waiting to get checked in now. Good Luck!!
  6. Thanks everybody! Sitting in the waiting area, waiting to check in. Of course, I'm very thirsty, and can't drink anything.
  7. Well, I knew I would be up all night. Even after doing house work, putting a bookcase together, and packing my bag, I'm still up. I work nights as a nurse, so I knew this could be a problem. I hate that I'll probably sleep all day tomorrow, when I'll need to be up walking to get rid of the gas. I guess I'll take a long, hot bath. I still need to shave my legs and all the "hot spots", then I may as well get dressed. I have to be at the hospital for 5:30am, so it's no point in trying to lay down now. I keep asking myself if I'm nervous, but I'm not. I think by the time 7:30 comes, I may be a bit anxious. Wish me luck, everybody.
  8. Like everyone else has said, "Call your insurance company!!!!" The cost of $22,000 may not be the contracted price agreed upon by your insurance company and your surgeon. You're responsible for 20% of the contracted price. Your insurance can tell you how much you've met of your deductible, OOP, and what 20% of the contracted price is. Unfortunately, there's no way to get past that binder fee, those things aren't usually covered under insurance, but may still be tax deductible. Good Luck!
  9. I broke down early on in the pre-op diet. It was more panic driven, than an actual craving. I haven't had any more relapses and I think I'll be fine, as long as I don't think about not being able to stuff myself ever again. That seems to make me panic.
  10. I've experienced the same symptoms, and the only thing that has helped has been working out at the gym. I notice on days that I work out, I don't feel it so much. Of course, water helps with the constipation. Good Luck!
  11. I have Cigna, my paperwork was submitted on Wednesday, I called Cigna on Thursday to follow-up, and my approval letter came in the following Tuesday. They've had some recent changes to expedite their approval process. I would call Cigna tomorrow, to make sure they received and accepted the documents. I've heard that they won't accept them if something is missing, and it's an automatic denial.
  12. That's funny. If only it were that easy for me stay away from food. I know a lot restaurants with annoying commercials, it only makes me think about food more.
  13. Wow, that is so good. What are you doing for exercise? We're very similiar in stats and I want to have the same success. I'm still pre-op, but I'm ready, lol. Thanks
  14. I could only hope the cinnamon crunch bagel would make me sick post-surgery, so I wouldn't ever be tempted by it again, lol.
  15. I went to my absolute fave place to eat, Panera Bread, and I passed all the delish breads and pastries without even considering getting something. I ordered the chicken noodle and only drank the broth (I'm on my pre-op liquid diet) and got water instead of my signature iced green tea. This is a huge accomplishment for me, because I used to have a toasted cinnamon crunch bagel every morning after work with an iced green tea, of course. While I haven't been perfect on the pre-op diet, I did start back at the gym after 3 years of not doing a single thing. I lost 11 pounds the first week. Surgery on Tuesday!!!!'
  16. I will say that if you aren't working out right now, you should start. You can be toning and tightening right now, as you work on pre-op weight loss. Since you won't get cleared to work out for several weeks, you'll have lost muscle too. Some areas will sag regardless, but you can be proactive to some extent.
  17. If you belong to the itty bitty committee, then you may be okay going without, but if you're 44EE like myself, then please wear one. Seriously, I'm an OR nurse, you can do whatever makes you comfortable, but you'll have to remove all clothing and jewelry before surgery. Good Luck today!!!
  18. I don't get migraines, but my headaches were horrible the first 3 days. Try to stick to it though, I lost 11 pounds the first week.
  19. Ok, I definitely try it post-op.
  20. I've been eyeing the class at my gym. I'm kind of getting bored with the elliptical and treadmill everyday. Does it burn as many calories as the elliptical or less? Thanks
  21. Wow, you look fabulous and so much younger. Like a much younger sister. Rock it, girl.
