On the day I started my pre-op diet, the thought crossed my mind, "I should take measurements", but I didn't. I was too ashamed, and frankly was afraid, and really didn't want to know. If I could do it all over again (AND I WOULD), I would have gone ahead and taken my measurements. Now that I'm almost 12 weeks post-op, I know how much weight I've lost, what size clothes I wear, but have no idea how many inches I've lost - not that I'm looking for them! I took my measurements today, and will start with that. So for all of you who are starting this journey, I would strongly urge you to take your measurements, no matter how scary it is, because the good news is that you WILL lose them and not go looking for them in the future, except as a reference point!

This is excellent advice! I too was too embarrassed and just didn't want to face the inches of my body. I did not start measuring until 6 weeks out too when I had a stall. But I still don't have a full pic of how many inches I truly loss. :( So please take measurements when you start your journey if for nothing else, a starting point. ;)

I did take my measurements the night before my surgery and was horrified. While my "brain" always knew I was overweight, my "mind" thought just a little bit. Now I am so glad I took my measurements because when I hit a stall (and I've been stalled for the past 2 months) I take my measurements and can see that the inches are still dropping even though the weight loss has been the same.

Dr. Scott Stowers and My Bariatric Solutions actually has an Exercise Specialist who does all measurements prior to surgery, and monthly afterward...including total fat percentages etc. I am 1 month post op and excited to go get measurements today!

I need to do my measurements. And I will tonight. I did do pics though. I did, front, side and a close up face shot. Then I am going to take more pictures the first Sunday of every month. So I took my first "after" shots last week. I have to say, I knew my clothes were looser, I knew the pounds were coming off. I knew there is a big difference between 294 and 261 but I couldn't "see" it when I looked in the mirror. I totally saw it when I compared the pictures. And I was in the middle of my first stall. That got me through it. I think we need to really keep track. It is more motivation than I would have thought. Thanks for the recommendation. I need all the help I can get :-)

I didn't take measurements either. Now that I am 4 weeks post op I wish I did. I didn't have the measuring tape and kept telling myself to get one, but never remembered. Oh well.

It wouldn't have bothered me. I just forgot. I was too busy scoping out Protein powders. i also forgot to save my biggest pants so I could stand in one leg and cheer.

Oh well. I have plenty of embarrassing pictures.

Oh wait! I just saw the above post. My surgeon did take measurements. When taking new measurements do you wrap the tape really tight so that the miles of hanging skin doesn't count? I'd hate to count that.

Sorry, it's a self deprecating, Rodney Dangerfield type of day. The skin thing is really pissing me off today.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
