Well glad you are okay. I am able to keep liquids down, I haven't really eaten much of anything since I have no hunger or cravings at all. In my 4 days post op I have eaten a couple sugar free popsicles, some sugar free Jello, I drank broth while at the hospital but not since i've been home. Last night I made a Protein smoothie but it was thick so I ate it like ice cream, maybe three bites. Today I pureed a banana and ate that, literally that is all I have eaten. I am forcing myself to drink Water because no matter how little I eat, about 15 minutes later I am in the restroom =O my shoulder pain is completely gone, but I still have a very sharp pain on my left side right below my ribs, the doctor said its where they detach the stomach from the abdominal wall. Also because of the hernia repair it feels like extra pressure pushing on my diaphragm. I am able to lay on my stomach now though and it feels really good!! Have you found anything that is agreeing with your new tummy and doing okay with liquids?

Just packed my bag for the hospital. I have to be at the hospital at 8am' date=' so glad that it is so early. This clear liquid diet is a killer and I was afraid I would be waiting around till the afternoon. I was really nervous but I just got off the phone with a friend that I don't see very often, she said "the next time we get together you'll be a skinny Minnie" .... Just the thought of that being a possibility made me very excited!! Still so glad I found this forum a few Weeks ago, I,have learned so much and knew exactly what to put in my hospital bag!![/quote']

I can't wait to hear of your experience. Good luck and post when you're up to it. I'm so excited for you!

Well I also had my gal bladder removed and I had a liver biopsy. Right now surprisingly enough I am feeling so much better. Not groggy at all and happy to be up. I'm able to keep down the liquids saw that u mentioned the sf popsicle i had one with no problem. Have had apple juice and some Powerade. Had also a little bit of Jello but just like u now really feeling hungry or craving anything. I'm glad that u had it around the same time I did we can truly go through this together keep me posted on how ur doing!!!!

Slim12, i'm wondering if you have your preferences set to get notified anytime someone comments on the thread. I got your first post that you were confused about my message, and now I just got this message. Both of my posts were directed at JenZ, I understand the confusion to.my questions since you are still pre-op. Either way congrats on your date, good luck and keep us posted!

It is is a really strange timing coincidence. Also that we are so close by, i'm pretty sure your name was on the list of patients in the same wing of the hospital I was in, when I was walking the halls. Lol I was in room 521, my fave nurse was Fatima =) although the lady that worked at night doubled my pain med dose so maybe she should be my favorite! Wow a fall bladder too, that's a lot, now I will stop complaining about my hernia repair lol. Glad you are getting around good, I am going to try pureed chicken noodle Soup when I get home from class tonight, so we'll see how that goes!!

I really didn't like Fatima she basically brushed me off to someone else her and another nurse actually argued about whose patient I was. My favorite was patty and the CPA a Dominican lady even did my hair so I came out of the hospital feeling better. I was first in 517 then moved to my own room 526. U were right there an why didn't we meet up?? Lol. Oh well how is it going for u today??

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
