Since Surgery I Have Never Been In For A Post Op Visit

Recommended Posts

Ok so i had a question... I was sleeved 12-12-11, and about 2 months after surgery i lost my health insurance so i have never actually been in to see the doc or my NUT post op. I am wondering if there is anything that I can do to get in to see them.

I think that im doing really well on my own, but it just seems unnatural that i would have this surgery and not have a follow up. I tried to get on medi-cal, but apparently unless you are over a certain age or are having a child, you don't qualify. So..... any suggestions.

I mean to be honest I almost feel like i don't need to go cuz im really happy with my results, but i feel like I should have had some kind of maintenence updates with my doc especially now that i am so close to goal!

Think of all the people who go to Mexico and never see their doctors again. We all do just great. If you are following all the rules, you have nothing to worry about.

You can go to your regular doctor to have labs drawn and check out your Protein, Iron and Calcium levels.

I didn´t even tell my doctor I was going to come to Mexico. I am just going to give her the paperwork - and like Oregondaisy said they can do all the necessaries that any specialist would do.

Good luck hope you find someone to do this for you.

My schedules follow ups are at 3 weeks, 6 months and one year with the bariatric team or if I feel the need to come in so you are probably fine. All of my labs Pre-op were done with my PCP because I chose a doctor that was not in the same network as my PCP. Just make sure you continue following the plan and you should be fine. Doctor visits are expensive enough and I'm glad I don't have to go in every month like I did Pre-op.

I am in the same boat. I had my VSG 12/5/11 and lost my insurance 1/112. I havent seen my Surg since. I feel great, no complications, no problems, but I feel like I SHOULD see SOMEBODY for peace of mind. Let me know what you come up with since we are in the same city.

Call your surgeon and let them know that you no longer have insurance. Make an appointment, when your in with the doctor let him know that you haven't followed up because you lost your job and no longer have insurance. Most doctors will charge you for a level 1 office visit which is the cheapest, also ask if there is a cash discount. Try to work something out with them, you are doing great so for him to keep track of your progress is beneficial to him.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
