Ill will give you my two cents on this...First I am so sorry to hear that you are not feeling good. It makes me sad to hear that but I can understand excatly where you are coming from. I am 4 weeks out as of Tuesday and I am for this two week supposed to be on soft food. I eat chicken salad tuna salad Beans etc. I eat about a half a cup up to 6 times a day. I am supposed to eat 60 grams of Protein and 4-6 times a day. They said not to go over too much with the protein as it adds more calories. Then in two weeks where you are at they say a cup to a cup and a half if you can and then try one new food at a time. 64 oz of Water minimum and to be active as much as possible. I hope that helps. Im always up for a chat if you ever need to talk. Just let me know

OMG you have lot 40lbs in 6 weeks u must be doing something right! You have already had so much good advise the only thing I can think of is eat no more than 1/3C. at each meal and have a midmorning protien shake and maybe a midmorning protien bar or shake. Try to relax what you are feeling in the overwhelming hormone rush when the weight starts coming off! You will be feeling better in a few weeks. good Luck!!

I like the saying that it's not what happens to us that matters but how we react to what happens to us that matters. I rarely have anyone that supports or approves of me either but I eventually realized that I'm not the problem. It's not my fault that others are irresponsible and insecure. That's their problems. It's not my fault that others often choose to mistreat me and, in the process, lose out on the opportunity to have a healthy relationship with me. I can't control the bad decisions that others make but I can control the decisions that I make. Sounds to me like you are trying your best to take care of yourself and improve your situation even in the presence of adversity. That is very difficult to do, trust me because I know, but yet you are doing it. This surgery can change our lives as long as we keep putting one foot in front of the other. I don't know if I can have the surgery yet but I'm so thankful that I have people like you that I can follow in your footsteps. I look forward to hearing about all your successes. Please keep us posted on your progress.

For Vitamins I was told take children's vitamins twice a day and tums 2 a day that's it.

I haven't had my surgery yet so I'm not sure what kind of supplements that you are able to take yet. However, I just want to mention that SAM-e, St. John's Wort, chromium, and a really good Multivitamin tend to help me feel better when I get moody, all of which are available at Walmart.< /p>

Thank everyone for taking time to respond... I just felt very low today.. its just hard when u don't know what to do.. see my problem is I over think everything and worry myself sick. And I haven't found my common ground yet... If I had a normal daily routine that I knew was right and healthy ill relaxes... Just need better habits and more positive thinking

Hugs..first I hope that you see what your father did for you as a blessing. There are many people here who want the surgery so bad, but do not have insurance nor can they afford this. You are truly blesses to have someone to take the iniative and help set this up and pay for this. Please don't feel like you don't have support, because you have us. You have seen the food advise above follow it. Have you thought about exersizing?? I can tell you if your 6 feet tall and once the weight comes off, and if your exercising you can have one h£ll of an athletic body. Try searching online for a local support group meeting.

I found it really helped for the first while to track everything I ate, drank, exercise, Vitamins, everything. I just wrote it on plain paper. It really helped me make sure I was getting everything in I needed to. Until you really get in a routine and get some "go to" foods you can rely on, it will really help. I even wrote down my feelings and stuff in a notebook that nobody else could see. Sometimes it just helps to write it down and get it out.

As far a supplements I was instructed a flinstone complete in the morning and evening. Calcium chews (I use Viactive) 3 times a day. You cant eat them within 2 hours of the Vitamins. I take 1 B100comdeplete once a day and 1 B12 sublingual a week.

Sarah35 - Where you planning on going back to Mexico for all your followup care? If you were, then you're the first I've heard that is doing that. Usually the aftercare is with your primary care physician, support groups and this forum, probably in that order. In Mexico, they make sure you are healthy enough for the surgery, perform the surgery, monitor your recovery until you are healthy enough to travel again, give you the information you need to pass on to your PCP and also some aftercare instructions on diet, etc to follow.

HI there....No I don't plan to travel to Mexico for aftercare, however, the group I have been talking to says that they offer one year of phone follow-up care after surgery. I wanted to make sure that this wasn't the same place. Thanks!

Elaina - I live in Lynnwood and am having my surgery done by Dr Chebli. There is a great support group that meets at Northwest Hospital once a month. Maybe you can take the ferry over once a month to join us.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
