Thanks everyone....It's interesting. I was quoted over $8000 for Dr. Garcia. I have not spoken to anyone from Ponce De Leon or Ortiz as of yet. I don't care if I have to spend more. My husband and I agree that it's about experience, etc, not price. Also I should add....I have a lap band so I am looking for someone that has experience with revisions.

I am just beyond sick with trying to figure out who to go to in Mexico. I have liked everything I have read about certain doctors but I am also only approved for $6700 in financing and have to pay the rest out of pocket. How did you select your doctor and what was your COMPLETE experience like? Honesty only please!

HI there....No I don't plan to travel to Mexico for aftercare, however, the group I have been talking to says that they offer one year of phone follow-up care after surgery. I wanted to make sure that this wasn't the same place. Thanks!

Where in Mexico did you have your surgery? I don't like that you aren't getting aftercare and I am about to book in Mexico and want to make sure about the people I am planning to go with. Thanks!

Does anyone know how to look up Mexico doctors to see if they are Board certified, licensed, etc? Thanks!!

Thanks everyone....It just seems so overwhelming. I get good and bad reviews regarding all the doctors in Mexico and so it is hard to make a decision.

I have searched the internet and there are so many options that I am looking into....Aceves, Rodriguez, Alvarez, Kelly, Garcia, and on and on. Thanks everyone! I did not fail my band, it failed me. I started at 234, dropped to 160 and then it has slowly gone up. I am now 187 or so. I cannot eat anything healthy. EVERYTHING gets stuck. I hate it. I want to live! I am looking into Mexico....anyone have any ideas of doctors down there?? Thanks!

Great to hear.....I really HATE this band. I just can't seem to decide if I want to stick with my doctor here in Washington or fly to Mexico and save thousands!

Hey everyone. I was banded November 2008. I have lost, gained, lost, etc etc. I am currently at 187 and my GW is 145. I have been approved for the financing and want to take out the band and have the sleeve surgery. Anyone else done this and had luck? Thanks!!! Sarah
