I kept hard ginger candies in my purse at all times during my twin pregnancy and they really helped with the early queasiness. Congrats on making it all "official" with the doctor! Only a week and a day for your sonogram - that's great. I just scheduled my beta (blood test) for Tuesday, with a follow-on test on Thursday, assuming we get a positive. Right now it's just too early for me to tell, or to test. And all of the possible symptoms I'm feeling could be caused by the estrogen and progesterone I'm taking! I'll do my first home test on Saturday...uh, if only it would get here sooner!

Congrats - and I LOVE the name. It was on our list of possible girl names for this go-round but my sister-in-law snatched it up and used it on my gorgeous little niece. We'll have a heck of a time picking a girl name (or names!) if we have a girl. Too many kids in the family! Too many girls, honestly!

Best of luck. You'll be having your ultrasound before you know it. :)

Thanks Cheri!! Praying for you, friend- hope you get a BFP soon!

I made spaghetti and meat sauce last night at midnight. I couldn't resist the siren song any longer.... Am I weird? Lol

I was just reflecting about how my cats have been acting lately- they've both been a bit strange the last couple weeks. One wants nothing to do with me, and the other has been majorly clingy. Think this might have anything to do with the pregnancy?

Called the doc to see what the results of the bloodtest were- they said everything looks good! Progesterone is at 11, and Hcg is at 50ish. Normal results! I'm on the second day of the 5th week. I have to get another blood test next week to make sure everything is increasing like it's supposed to.

My cats used to act weird when I was pregnant. My male would actually open his glands on me. Gross lol. The female was a complete b***h. They can smell your hormones for sure. That's awesome news about your bloodwork. I'm very happy for you. I kept my pregnancy tests and put them in the baby books lol

OMGosh, that is too funny about your cats! My normally cuddly one has been disdaining me for almost 3 weeks now. The other one (my brown tabby Gizmo) has not been at peace unless she is making physical contact with me. She's been acting protective too. She scratched the heck out of hub's foot the other day when she thought he was about to run into me! Both of them are girls...

So, I have to ask: How's the eating going?

Because (always assuming my cycle worked!) I'd be three weeks yesterday. In other words, barely pregnant. But I've been on hormones for more than a month, including two kinds progesterone shots and progesterone suppositories for nearly two weeks.

And let me tell you - I'm HUNGRY. ALL the time. If I don't eat, I get lightheaded and nauseated, just like when I was diabetic before, but my sugars are normal. I have never had the capacity for food that I have this past week. Last night for dinner I ate four ounces of garlic chicken, 1 small boiled potato, 1 oz. canned carrots and 2 oz. fresh pineapple. That's a veritable ton of food compared to my usual intake and when I finished I felt satisfied...not overfull or sick. I feel like I'm eating from sunup to sundown.

This would worry me if I was gaining weight. But in the bizarro world I'm currently living in, I'm losing weight. Yeah, that's right. I'm tracking 1,500-1,800 calories a day right now - an amount that would normally make me gain weight - and I've lost four pounds this week.

What the heck is up with that? I wonder if they transferred a tape worm instead of frozen embryos? ;)

LOL, Cheri! I have been eating more than normal, definitely, as long as the baby likes it.... I have been focusing on eating mostly protein-rich foods, since I know both the baby and I need it. Before the pregnancy, one protein-ous meal would leave me feeling stuffed for the rest of the day pretty much. And I would only be able to eat about five bites. Now, depending on the meal, I can eat almost a cup of food at a time. I am not too hungry the first part of the day, but then around 4pm and on I get snacky about every hour and a half or so. Last night between 9:30 and 11 I ate almost constantly- it was mostly fruit, plus a super delicious organic frozen fruit bar, but still! popcorn is something else that in the last three weeks I have wanted a lot, and can eat constantly. I haven't weighed myself lately- I am scared to! I have been making an effort to eat healthfully, though.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
