August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone...new and old...lol.....I am getting ready to pack today...tomorrow is my last day working before surgery....my nerves seem calm so that is good...I was more nervous weeks ago....hard to believe I have been doing a liquid diet for almost 4 weeks....someone asked about sodium.....we should try to keep it under 700 a day I am told by my nutritionist dr....be careful of your Protein Shakes too..I had no idea that mine were so bad....300 grams a shake...so I started swelling....my hands and feet and found out I was retaining water....I drink between 2 and 4 litres a day and even that was not doing the trick because of the amount of sodium...

I am not sure about anyone else either but half way through this liquid diet I got heart burn so bad for days I could not even drink Water without it hurting...SO my Dr prescribed some heartburn meds and I am all good again...The liquid diet really does mess you up but and I could kick myself for not measuring first, my husband and I have really noticed the weight I am losing in in my belly butt area for sure....So there must be something to the Dr.s trying to kill us...lmao....have a great Monday everyone...hugs and love..

I'm married to my soul mate, have a almost 3 year old, teach kindergarten.

**this weekend I told my mother in law, brother and sister in law that I was having this surgery in a week, it surprisingly went well and they all were supportive. Now I need to decide if I'm telling my sister and best friend.

Still on liquid diet, but ate some awesome watermelon yesterday...

WOW, I am out of the loop for a few days, and when I get back I see there are tons of new people to the group.

I want to say WELCOME to everyone who is new, and I hope you all are enjoying the thread and the great company. I can't believe how huge we have grown. I still believe we August group is going the be the biggest/busiest surgery group of the forums.

ICanDoThis, I think you have done great with your diet. I am finding myself struggling more and more. It's funny, they always say its hard to start the diet, well it was complete opposite for me, the longer I am on it, the harder it is. As far as the measurements I too forgot to do them, and yesterday Hubby and I went swimming. I put my first bathing suit on, and I was like utoh. that thing would have went floating the first dive into the pool. I had to pull out a smaller one just to feel like I could keep the girls in the the suit. When I put on my denim shorts they sagged in the front at the waist. Definitely had about 4 inches of room in my waist or more. I am ready to get this started.

I hope you have a safe trip/flight to the states. Are you able to keep in contact with us once you are in Texas?

That would be awesome if they allow you to wait til I get there. I am sure you will still be there, afterall there is only one Rosie. Unless they have other drivers. If I am not mistaken they show up at Eagle Pass Hotel like 530-6 in morning. I don't foresee anyone being shuttled to San Antonio any sooner than that. I am looking forward to meeting my Canadian friend.

Welcome to everyone new. August has become a hot month for sleeves! Well, my date is two weeks from today. I can't believe it! I took measurements on Saturday, so I will be able to check on progress in that area. Since starting my pre-pre-op diet last Monday, I have been able to get into a couple pair of pants that I haven't been able to wear since last fall, so that was really nice. I just generally feel better. I think I lost about 7 pounds so far. I guess on someone who's only 5', 7 lbs. makes a big difference! ;) Since I don't have to start my pre-op diet until this Friday, I chose to eat a meal with my family yesterday before taking two of my kids to camp, since we won't be doing it again for several weeks from now. I planned it out ahead of time by using MFP to track everything ahead of time. I really tried to do a good job, but went way over my budget of calories, etc., BUT it was no where near as bad as it would've been prior to starting this journey. I didn't just say "to heck with it" and eat whatever I wanted. I made a couple of food choices, and then got right back to doing what I need to do. I also didn't do sugar or anything like that, so that is a HUGE victory for me. This morning, I did wake up feeling a little defeated, but instead of giving into that, I went right back to my plan and continued on. This is so different for me, that I almost feel like a different person, making a much better choice.

Anyway, thanks for letting me share all of that.

I was so busy at work today all I had time for was a quick trip around the corner to Taco Bell. And of course one item wasn't enough, I had to add a few more things, and when I asked for a diet pepsi, I got a regular by accident. I didn't blink twice while devouring it all. An hour later, I feel like a giant fat failure. Lord knows I need to eat, but I hate how hungry I am, and how I'm a bottomless pit at times. The next 18 days could not go by fast enough. I'm tired of doing well in every other aspect of my life and feeling like a failure because of food!!!! :/

My default mode when I fail with food is to beat myself up and throw in the towel, and it only leads further down the wrong path for me. Do you have a plan right now? Are you on pre-op yet? If so, just refocus and realize that the past is gone, and you have your future to look forward to. If you don't have a pre-op plan, maybe borrow one from one of the other folks here, just so you can have the confidence of knowing what food choices you are making each day.

<<HUGS>>

the easiest thing for this is to pre package...what I mean is to do what Tosca Reno of clean eating says....package your meals and add extra incase you are hungry and take it with you...a days good food....or shakes whatever you are eating worth in a lunch pack...then all you have to do is open a container and not think about it....

if you have what you need you do not need to go to a fast food place...hugs

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
