10 Days Out.... Should I Feel This Way?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on April 9th. I still hurt across my abdominal area like I've been kicked.. I can barely bend over most the time or get up and down from the couch or bed without pain and strain. Plus I not sure about my puree intake. 2.5 oz of food takes forever to get down and every bite feels like it gets stuck a little on the way down or kinda crampy feeling at the beginning of my stomach. Is this normal? And the spot where they took out my drain Monday is extremly tender. Am I just a wimp or has anyone else had these problems?

April 9 here too. I just think everybody is different. We all heal differently. I have very mild tenderness. I'm mostly on full liquids still though as instructed by my doctor.

you're not a whimp! i also felt like i had been kicked in the gut after my surgery in dec 2011. give yourself credit it's only been 10 days since you had major surgery. also, i think 2.5 oz is great! i think it took me almost 2.5 weeks to get to 2 oz. keep doing exactly what you were told to do. make sure to focus on Protein and fluids intake to help you heal. good luck.

Hello, I was sleeved On Feb 20th /12 and it took me about 3 weeks before I could even drink 60 onces aday. My doctor told me just to keep trying. I was sore for awhile aswell. Do to all the gas they pumped inside me. I was told not to chew any GUM, cus it cause more gas at that time. Needed to wait for like a month, witch was hard for myself cus I was a smoker!! It well get a lot better, all I can say is keep walking it does help. When I was in the hosptail the nurses would drive me crazy with all that walking, But it helped me alot getting the gases out of my system. and my chest didn't feel like it was about to crack open, It will all work out. Good luck :)

Nope I am 8 days out for me and I went to work for one day and my incisions got inflamed and irritated and my abdomen hurts if I move to quick or even try to bend.

I had a hernia repaired and it hurts the most.

I see so many people feeling great going to back to work but that is not the case for me.

I am so thirsty I can't quench my thirst. I have tried everything nothing is working!

Any tips. I went for post op visit today and they said it is normal.

It took me 3 weeks before I felt no pain in my abdomen... I had a pulling on my right side that was SO annoying/ painful. It seemed like 3 weeks was the magic number for me, it just all went away and I feel totally normal now. I was getting worried because I had friends that went back to work a week later, I was beginning to think I was a wimp! But, no we all heal at different rates... I think you're right on track! ;)

I too am 8 days out and still can't bend over and pick things up off the floor. I move slower than normal. I cam walk but I am no where close to working yet.

I ended up taking two weeks off from work. I can't bend either if I drop the soap I scream for someone to help me get it.

My abdomen and back hurts. I have found it hard to sit straight up for long periods of time.

I was sleeved on the 10th. I bent over for the first time today and was "rewarded" with a vicious cramp in my belly. My back constantly aches - in fact I'm taking pain medication for that rather than abdominal pain. I also had a hernia repair so my esophageal sphincter is pretty tight - can't burp so I feel like I have a rock on my chest. I was also having some awful heartburn, but my surgeon prescribed some Protonix and it's really helped that.

I think we all heal at different rates so lots of things are normal to feel right now. But we won't always feel this way.

I had problems bending over too. Or I'd have pain after I bent over. I had a lot of pain on my left side. I think I started feeling better around week 3. I took a month off before I went back to work. I was so tired all of the time and I started having crazy leg cramps in my thighs. Now I'm five weeks out and I feel pretty good.

I'm 5 weeks out now and my journey so far has been readonably ok. I was in pain for the first 3 weeks especially if i slept on my side. I felt like a tugging on the inside on my stomach so i used pilows as suggested on my post and that eased it a bit. At 5 weeks out i feel a lot better but i still have a dull pain. I believe this is normal as everyone heals at a different rate.

Try not to bend too much and sleep on your back more. It may lead to healing a bit faster.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
